Hello,

The fastest milers run sub-4..which is 15 mph. The fastest 100m runners run it in sub-10 seconds...which is 22 mph. That seems to be about as fast as we humans can go. I use the link below to equate my treadmill times to mile paces. Take care.

<>A runner who can do 100 yds in 10 sec is going 20.45 mph. That's about as fast as it gets. A champion marathoner runs about 12-13 mph.

Great question, by the way. Now to apply the maths...

Michael Johnson's 200 metre WR of 19.32 equates to an average speed of 23.16 MPH, which makes him the fastest travelling human in an individual event (He ran the second 100m in about 9.1 seconds, which would equate to 24.58 MPH)

The World Record runs of 9.77m in the 100m by Asafa Powell and Justin Gatlin equates to 22.90 MPH

I hope this helps.
