It was required, because without the final proof of God's nature and power over death there would be no followers, and then Jesus, being Christ, would have been in vain. The process of Jesus' death was the normal outpouring of the human hatred of the truth. You see this on YA today, where people refuse to accept the truth, but cling tightly to any other mortal suggestion instead.

they claim it was his decision established by the Hebrew beliefs .
it supposedly separated him from the other messiahs ...I don't buy into it but many still do.Some day I think the majority will realize as I do now but until society comes to full maturity it's live and let live I suppose.
