lol.. rock a bye baby is a pretty violent nursery rhyme (a baby falling out of its crib in a tree??)!! and jack and jill (broke his crown)... humpty dumpty... jack and the beanstalk, jack and the candlestick (making a kid jump over a candle that sounds pretty abusive to me!!), hansel and gretel, yep i'd say alot of older nursery rhymes and stories have links to child abuse lol

No, some of them have meaning like Ring around the Rosie was about a plague. Nothing linked to child abuse.

Actually NO, the older nursery rhymes were actually poems told to kings by jesters to keep the king entertained while "digesting" during a feast...some were actually insulting tales about other monarchs. "Mary Mary Quite Contrary" was about Mary Queen of Scots and her ummmmm "sexual" preferences...

They were ways to tell about what was going on when there was no tv and things we have today. That's kinda like saying winnie the pooh is about being an alcoholic. Sometimes we read too much into things.

"Ring Around the Rosies" is about the Plague but other than that I can't see a connection between nursery ryhmes and harm to children.
