Cowardice equips a man for flight from battle. But worse than that: it gives him the argument why his flight is not actually cowardice, but wisdom. "If we can just have a place at the table...." It takes on the air of "Mutual disarmament and peace talks". Hey Democrats, here you are, huh?

Your argument is too simple. Are you trying to say that all compromise is cowardice? Should humanity be constantly at war for the rest of history? Is there not a point when we should grow up, as a species, and decide that discretion is truly the better part of valor? The phrasing of your question implies that you are a Christian. What happened to turning the other cheek? And where in the Bible does it say cowardice is a sin, much less "the greatest sin"?

So, to attempt to solve issues without war and violence is cowardice? That's the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard.

Perhaps the reason behind the need for peace talks and mutual disarm agreements is because we can't possibly afford another war -- troops-wise or money-wise. Maybe if there was any actual wisdom whatsoever in the decision to go to war, we would be more prepared to deal with real threats.

I would have to say that "eating almost all of the ice cream and then putting the container back into the freezer for your husband to find with less than a full scoop in it" is the worst sin. As far as flight from a battle, anyone who thinks that is a bad idea has obviously never been shot at. It is not a fun time, and I would recommend talk any day over the trading of high velocity lead. Shooting is for the dumb.

Yeah...the Bush administration sure is corageous. None of them fought in the military. No one he supposedly served with even remembers Bush. He spent time on a penal colony for going AWOL. He sure is brave. BRING IT ON!!!

Let's analyze Bush's first foreign policy crises, and see how bravely he acted....

An American Air Plane carrying sensitive military technology, crashed with a Chinese Air Plane. It then crash landed in China.

The official US position was that the Plane was US property, and the Chinese couldn't touch it.

For the next week Bush did the tough talk act we've all become familair with. There was minimal effort put on diplomacy. It was 10 second I'm tough sound bites.

After a week of Bush being beligerent, the Chinese said screw you. He'd pushed the moderates there into a corner, and the more conservative Chinese took over. They called Bush's bluff...and said no...we're keeping it. They did give us back the crew.

Bush apologized the next day to the Chinese. He backed down.

In other words, Bush talked tough, and when the Chinese said boo....he flinched.

Let's analyze how an effective President, like Clinton (who was criticized by republican congress, and neo-con think tanks as being paranoid about Al Queda) might have handled this.....

The plane crashes....blah blah....

Clinton has backdoor diplomacy that tries to allow everyone to save face. Clinton never did the tough guy routine, he never needed to....he wasn't a spoiled rich frat boy...he had REAl cajones.

Either that policy works, or it doesn;t....let's say diplomacy doesn't work......

What would Clinton do?

Judging by Clinton's aggressive stance on Alqueda (more agressive then that of the Bush admin.), and aggressive stance on Iraq bombings...and also considering he dropped a bomb on a Chinese embassy during trade negotiations (do you seriously think that was an accident?)....

Clinton would probably have dropped a bomb on the plane rendering the point moot.

Yeah....Bush sure is a corageous warrior. He certainly fought hard at his beer pong contests.

Kerry fought for this nation....have you?

Kill em all and let god sort it out right? Even god himself said there is a time for everything including peace and disarmament. I tend to follow the wisdom of my grandfather who was a wwii vet and a republican. He always said to me,"Boy you dont start fights but you damn well should finish 'em." We started iraq and after the fact found out the reasons we went were all lies or accidental untruths. How can we justly finish a war that was started over the wrong reasons? And furthermore whatever happened to the just war we are involved in. I mean we had a legitimate right to go into afghanistan and last I heard they needed a bit of help there so... screw iraq If we are not going to do it right and fully commit we should pull out. The military stated long before the attack they needed 400,000 troops to pull it off and 4 or 5 years as well. So give em what they need or get them out.

Cowards are afriad to fight a worhty cause, they are afraid to stand up to something that is injustice, they buckle in fear and what that fear is I dont know. But to say that the USA is fearful, is to say that those men and women dying over in Iraq are there for no reason at all. No sin is greater than any other in Gods eyes, except the sin that you persist to reject that which has saved your souls, even then God can forgive. Be careful what you say about your own country. If we start war, lives are lost, and people suffer.

Nah, not even close! Way before that is pride, and willful ignorance.

have you never heard the axiom: He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day. He also lives to reproduce, which is what lifeis really all about

Theres greater understanding to be had in getting weakness than strength.
Everybodies weak somewhere and its wrong to condemn because nobodies perfect.

i dont think there is a greatest sin, but its silly to start a war then back out, they should have flattened the place the first time around and to the devil with the results.
