i told this person that i thought one of my friends was gay and she told his family. telling them eveyrything.! what should i do. how do i approach her?

You should always watch what you say, unless you do not care if it comes back to you...a good friend would not tell that anyway...so you need to choose friends better...we are taught to forgive anyone that is sorry..sometimes it is hard..Remember she was not a very good friend.........

You could approch her politely and tell her that you discovered that she let our your secret and tell her that you didnt like it because you had put your trust on her. You could try forgive her but at least you know you wouldnt tell her anything else that should be kept a secret
