low lymphocyte count so my doctor performed a more detailed test and the results came back as having a low cd3 only. No other cd's were low, they were normal. I have an appt tomorrow to discuss results with my doc. The clinic nurse went over the results with me but she said she hadn't seen that sort of result before so wasn't able to give me any other information. any information would be fantastic. thanks!

cd3 stands for cluster of differentiation 3. Its basically a protein that makes up part of a signalling complex (T cell receptor) for your T lymphocytes (T cells).

In an infection, the TCR with cd3 recognises an antigen (part of a foreign protein) and it gets activated. The T cell then stimutates over parts of the immune system to fight off the infection.

A low cd3 count would mean that its harder for the T cells to become activated, and so harder to fight off an infection. But listen carefully to what the doctor says, and ask questions. Good luck.
