Sweetheart you have to know that it was a coincidence. He was already sick or getting sick.

He was sick before hand, which is likely why he misbehaved in the first place. His eyes got red and watery because he was likely upset and got teary eyed (when you don't feel good you take things to heart more, and get more emotional) , and being sick along with the scolding he went into "turn off" mode and fell asleep. Don't beat yourself up or think that he got sick bc you scolded him! Also remember that kids misbehave for a reason, and occasionally it is because they don't feel good.

Your son has most probably taken your scolding to his heart , he has taken it more hurtingly than one should , maybe the scolding was in his mind . He kept thinking about it feeling more and more sad, hurt . And you must know that so much thinking and feeling hurt can break down a child very much both physically and mentally .

The best way out would be to keep him near you , try to make him happy by making him feel that you love him , and try to explain him that your scolding shouldn't be taken too seriously , it was only to correct him , not hurt him .

Wishing you all the best !!!!!!

coincidence? sounds like he was not feeling well prior to falling asleep. I know that when my child is not feeling well, he seems more emotional, fever can make one feel tired, redden the eyes, and often our little ones do not know they don't feel good. I don't think you scolded him into a cold.

he is either just sick or he is over sensitive. Has he done this before? What did you do to him? If you do it again will the same thing happen? Maybe he's sick and he should see his doctor or maybe he's just a sensitive child. Most children act up when they are sick.
