not that i know of. i used to drink lots of protein-enriched drinks when i did workouts, and will continue doing so when i get back to the gym again. our body doubles (or triples) the protein requirements when we do workouts because the amino acids serve as food for the muscles and help them develop at a desired phase.

if we take too much amount of protein, like drinking protein shakes rigorously everyday without the need to use them at a high rate, then the only side effect i know is GAINING WEIGHT. just drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. proteins consume water.

yes, if and only if consumed in mass. Protein requires Water so that the nitrogen connected to the amino acids can be flushed out of your system, therefore if consuming a lot of them they can actually dehydrate you.
Whey protein, Soy Protein, have their benefits but I would suggest plant based protein, also look to see what amino acids are included in the protein formula because if it's lopsided it won't do you as much good. There also is a soy sauce out there called Bragg's Aminos which is pretty tasty.

For the most part, nope, no side effects.
Go to your local GNC and ask them about it. I went to a GNC and the lady suggested soy protein for me because she said it's better for females. Protein is goooood. lol =]

the amino acids from protein powders are treated no differently by the body than ones from fish, meat or poultry.
