It is for a college class and I'd like it to be interesting and not overdone. I'm stuck and it's due Thursday :(

How about "Jewels are not joke ... but they're fun" as a theme? The scope is pricing of jewelry contrasted with the fun of variety. You have room for opinions and facts, and it should be flexible as to how deep you go (in order to target your 4 minutes in practice).

Sounds a bit fluffy, but it's right after St V's day, so - perhaps of interest. :)

How about "The Stories of St. Patrick's Day," an informative speech about the history and world views of it? Again, it's time-sensitive and flexible ... and the gist of it shouldn't be hard to present in 4 minutes.

How about "2007: A Year in Movies" with previews? Share some fun highlights. THAT will keep your audience: it's a good year ahead for film.

How about "Stem Cell Research: Why Is It Controversial?" --- you'll really need to focus, but it's an important topic.

How about "PC vs Mac: Pros and Cons'?

How about "The Reach of Radio" - a piece about who radio appeals to and how many listeners it has (with examples of beloved shows, from Howard Stern to Delilah to Click and Clack)?

Just want you to have an array of options to renew your thinking. Have fun, and "knock 'em dead."

3 Minute Informative Speech

The easiest thing to do when giving a speech, that you can choose your own topic is to pick something that you are interested in and know a lot of the information. That way its almost as if your just having a conversation with the class rather that reading off cards. So maybe if you like make up, talk about how to match colors and the best way to apply. Or if you enjoy a holiday such as Valentines day, talk about popular gifts, how the holiday traditionally started.
Just make sure you enjoy the topic...it will make it much easier to perform the speech...Good luck.

I think impersonating an activist is always a good way to go. Go for something you believe strongly about, like anti-child labour. Its powerful, and you will have a natural drive.

Good ideas from left-wing liberal Democrats...Oh! Wait! You said 5 minutes right? Scratch that idea...it will only cover thirty seconds.
