Which happens twice or thrice a week.

I have replaced new cells to the remote control.

Tried with an another remote control. Nothing doing.

When I unplug and replug the TV cable then works alright.

Is there any remedy for it?

The Dealer says that is normal.

Can I file a case against them?

Take it back to where you bought it from, and demand a replacement. Shouldnt be a problem as the device is not doing what it is designed to do.

It the infra red beam on the remote control that is at fault.

when trying to turn the lcd on with remote, our you a angled distance away, or only just in front of it.

Take the remote to the shop where you brought it from, go round the displays and try it.

Guess what will happen, the staff will soon find a remedy for you remote. There is a gadget that test the strenght of the infra red, they will have one.

All the best wg

Konfuzious to me ,a novice but sounds like your remote is not storing the command codes ,in order for the tv to operate it has to read the signals ,appears to have no memory long term residency,if you move closer to the tv facial does this change anything,If no joy return it , dont listen to dealers this is not normal operation.

I think it's normal cause my father has an LCD one and does the same thing too. Btw my father's LCD is a Sharp Aquos. Mine does the same which is a Sony Bravia and my friend's LCD which is Samsung does it too. When all of us asked the dealer what is the reason, he told us that it is a common thing that LCD's do and that it's normal.
