Obviously we all know that smoking isn't good for your health. With that said, what you are experiencing does seem a bit odd and chances are there is more to it that we don't understand from your explanation.
There are a lot of toxins in cigarettes, but in general they don't make you feel sick. What can make you feel sick, say sick on your stomach, is nicotine. To much of it can lead to a feeling of nausea. Think about people who smoke that first cigarette and that terrible feeling they get; its the nicotine that causes those feelings. In general however, over time you become more and more accustomed to the nicotine levels and you don't notice it so much. That is why people tend to smoke more and more, they are trying to find a new level of nicotine to satisfy their cravings.
It's difficult to say for sure, but it could be, for some reason, that you have become sensitive to nicotine, assuming that nausea is your issue.
On the other hand, is it more of a coughing problem after smoking? Excessive coughing can also lead to gagging. Smoke of any kind is a severe irritant and can really wreak havoc on the lungs sensitive tissues. You can develop lung conditions such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema and asthma from smoking. These lead to difficulty breathing, reduced oxygen supply to the body and worse. Its not uncommon for smokers to develop chronic cough. Its worse for some than for others.
I hope this has helped in some way.

Ultra lights are not any safer than regulars or even non-filters, I've read.
You didn't mention how much you smoke per day. It is easier to cut down a little at a time than to quit cold turkey. The fact that cigarettes are making you feel sick might be a blessing in disguise.
Let's say you smoke 1 pack (20 cigarettes) per day. You need to see which ones of those 20 you really didn't want--you just smoked out of habit. On day 1, skip the cigarettes that are just a habit. Hopefully, you will have cut at least 3, and have smoked 17 cigarettes. The next day, if you smoke say, once per hour, try to go one hour and 15 minutes between cigarettes. Every 4 hours you will have eliminated another cigarette--so you might have smoked 14 cigarettes on day 2. On day 3, go an hour and 1/2 between cigarettes--day 4 go one hour and 45 minutes, and so on.
I hope that you can kick the habit in that way, but I still recommend that you see a doctor because of how sick you're getting. There could be something wrong beyond the cigarette smoking--but the smoking is, of course, making it worse.
Good luck, and be well.

Sounds like all that tar and poison is starting to build up. Afterall, it has been 12 years. I'd go to the doctor, it sounds like you're getting the beginning stages of lung cancer. If you quit smoking now though, you can undo some of the damage you have caused to your body.

when you started your lungs were in better shape (and let's face it most of us are more healthy when we're younger).
They are making you sick because you are killing off your lungs, and now more of your lungs are all screwed up. Stopping will help alot. Get some support to stop smoking and see your dr

Your body is fighting back from the damage it is doing. Pain and sickness is your body's way of telling you it isn't well, and to do something about it.

It is highly toxic to you, that's why you get sick. I suggest cutting down, the whole "ultra-light" thing is a myth, they add in other stuff instead which is also harmful!

Are you kidding? There are countless poisons in cigarettes... It is probably just your body trying to tell you something. Common sense of course, but something nonetheless.
