Here is a few things they might help you out...

The smoke might be caused by a worn out valve cover seal as mentioned previously. That's cheap to replace. Which is causing oil to spill onto a hot part of the engine, causing the smoke. The 5.0L engines usually require new seals after the 150K mark and are usually bulletproof otherwise with regular maintenance.

As for the buckling and jerking my bet is on replacing the wheel bearings on your differential, which is inexpensive to do on the live axle rear suspension. If you start seeing smoke coming out of the rear wheelwell, then I suggest you take care of this issue immediately to avoid further damage to other suspension components.

Overall as reliability goes, these vehicles are easy to work, the parts are inexpensive, extremely safe and with little maintenance can go a long way. This is the reason why for years taxi companies and police departments have racked up miles with this platform.

Hope this helps....

I 2d the what style of motorcar. On some vehicles pulling the gasoline pump is 1/2-hour, on others its 3 hour pastime or more beneficial (somewhat if its contained in the gasoline tank as many are). minimum repayment right here, purchase them pizza/wings and as a lot beer as they opt for.. a wide-spread Mechanic would fee a pair hundred actually for this pastime depending for sure on many aspects. if you aren't from now on giving them the marketplace fee (and in case you've been you would have purely lengthy previous to a wide-spread mechanic precise) then you're giving them a token present. This ideally must be some thing they fee. in view that they're both colour tree mechanics a minimum of, perchance there is a few device they wanted they'd even as doing this or different recent artwork. No mechanic will be displeased with a clean device (that they did not already have) solid food hardly ever is going un cherished although.

The smoke could be a leaking valve cover gasket and the oil is dripping on the exhaust manifold. The jerking could be worn U-joints, bad wheel bearings, a rear end problem with the gears. That's the best guess I can give. Probably need to take it in and have a mechanic look at it, he could give you a better idea of the problem and the cost to repair.

The car is old it doesn't take a experince mechanic to figure this out its a old car and its probably seen its best days. With out seeing the car no one can tell you exactly what's wrong i would say it will cost more to fix then its worth and you are going to have more problems so just get rid of the thing.
