Did you know? The manipulation of information around electric cars is still going on.
*
Did you know that driving on electricity only costs about a penny per mile, as opposed to 10 to 15 cents per mile for gasoline?
A typical EV gets about 4 miles per kilowatt-hour - now check your utility for special overnight-only electricity rates for charging. Here in Detroit it's only 3 cents per kwh. That gives me a cost per mile of less than a cent.
Energy is cheaper for electric cars because of the far greater efficiency of energy usage and delivery (delivering energy by wire is far more efficient than trucking gas to thousands of gas stations.) Greater efficiency also means less pollution, even when electricity is made from dirty fuel.
*
Did you know that lots of electricity goes to waste overnight, because most power plants can't shut themselves off? Millions of electric cars can charge cheaply just on this wasted electricity without increasing pollution one bit.
*
Did you know that electric cars require almost no maintenance? I drive an EV built in 1981. It still has all the original motor and electronic controller parts, which have never needed service in 25 years.
*
Did you know that you could be driving a freeway-capable EV right now, and you could spend as little as $5000 to get one? See this page:

*
Did you know that, over the last several years, almost all the problems with electric vehicle batteries have been solved? Take a look at this car, using batteries based on research from MIT:
*
http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html
*
The Phoenix can travel up to 250 miles per charge, carries 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph, charges in only 10 minutes, and has batteries that will last well over 200,000 miles (for the life of the car.) Yes, it's a real car, orders have been taken and they begin building cars this month. Cost is about $45,000, but that price will fall if enough sales can be made.
*
Did you know this car existed? Why do you suppose our government - and our mass media - keep trying to sell us hydrogen fuel cells and ethanol, when we could be driving cars like the Phoenix?
*
Now you know.

So whats the question?
If you don't want to ski on grass, stop people flying off on skiing holidays
and if you want an electric car that outperforms infernal combustion 0-60 4 secs, 250 miles per charge see www.teslamotors.com

Competitive pressures killed the electric car.
Gasoline powered cars have higher speeds, longer range and greater endurance. The electric car simply cannot compete, and therefore it failed as a business venture.
Contrary to the current conspiracy theorist myth, nobody "killed" the electric car - it died a natural death!!!

The electric car was not killed, it died a natural death. What is promising are the hybrid (electric and gas) cars.
