What's really funny about what you are saying is that people say the same things about Christians. In fact, I find surprising similarities in the way many Athiests and many Christians handle themselves on here. Both want to answer questions where their opinion is clearly not wanted. Both answer with predictable tired old arguments. Both have a militant "my way or the highway" attitude and stubbornly refuse to even consider the validity in what the other is saying. Two sides of the same coin if you ask me.
Peace!

To answer your headline question...ironically, many atheists feel the same way about christians.
Sorry, hon...I've read the bible many times. It's a contributing factor to my atheism.
If you don't want to be bashed for your faith, then do something about it. Find an answer that's not in the bible (or uses the bible for a source)...its not valid simply because its the ONLY thing that claims the bible to be the word of god. When something is asked that you can't answer, don't use a cop-out such as "we can't know what god thinks", or "it's god's will", or "god did it".
Realize that this board isn't titled "christians only", but "religion & spirituality". Just as some of the christians come onto the board to gain "wisdom" and strengthen their faith, atheists come here to remind ourselves why we unshackeled ourselves from that same faith.

As christians, we should want to hear what atheists and agnostics have to say. We should constantly encourage dialog, and we should keep a thick skin while doing it.
I am a christian, and I really do care what they have to say, because it was only ten years ago that I was an atheist, standing on the other side of this.
We should care what they think because God cares what they think, and God wants us to be understanding, so that they might understand.
Do we get bashed? Yes.
But so do they. We must remember that.

You are wrong many Christians haven't completely rolled up in that cocoon of ignorance and are carious to know what others thank. Just because you have a closed mind doesn't mean all Christians have. Or was you just making yourself spokesman for all Christians? I have studied the Bible quite extensively and probably know more about it than you do. I was once a Christian myself. I like to know others opinion and so do many Christians.

rediculous if they did not care why are there thousands of christians ,hitting on Atheists to prove or disprove religious beliefs .just check the questions ,it is the other way around
far more than Atheists asking Christians to explain
.the proof is right here
a very hypocritical question
and why are you asking this question if you did not care
rediculous

Well,if you're someone who believes in something that you feel is right, you'd try to prove it to other people as well..
I'm religious myself, but sometimes,i see through other people views, cuz you might find some truth in it..
Atheist, they say things about the Holy Books cuz they don't truly understand them,no matter how many time they read them.
or maybe cuz they don't want to be restraint by the Rules of Religion..
who knows?ask them

Every sensible person, Atheist or non-atheist alike, understands that there are such people who never cares what reason is, and are never going to listen to anyone else outside their own group.
But true and false need to be made evident now and then.

Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. - I Peter 3.15
being ready to explain does imply that people will ask! consider it a blessing to be given ideas, concepts, and philosophies to explore and refute. remember, obedience to this command is equally important to obeying things like loving your neighbor.

Perhaps they'd be better off listening. Then they wouldn't believe in absurd things like the creation myth.
Can't your beliefs handle questioning from an outside perspective?
