Usually if I go out with the guy if hes a gentlemen he will buy the drinks first. Then you can agree to buy him a round next time. But hes really good guy he wont even let you do that. Spending time with you should be enough of a pay back for him buying you drinks. Dint drink too much where not sure what might take place.

Of course, it matters what the arrangements are. Who initiated the date? If the female asked the male out, then it could hardly be expected that the male should pay for everything. Then you have their financial situations. If the female has a higher-paying job or is otherwise financially better off than the male, that has to be considered too. The traditional etiquette of the male paying for everything began in the days when men controlled everything. Women for the most part did not even hold paying jobs. Today it's not at all uncommon for women to not only have good-paying jobs, but to be totally in control of their finances. If the date was mutually agreed on, and really initiated by neither (or both) then 50-50, or Dutch, would be appropriate. With today's emphasis on responsible drinking, chances are there'll only be one or two rounds of drinks, so it might be fair for one party to pay for dinner, then the other to pay for drinks. If no dinner's involved, then probably taking turns is the most fair -unless one is specifically trying to impress or woe the other!

Go 'Dutch'!
An Equal share of the Drinks and Food Bill sets things off in the right direction!
But seriously, On a First date you should be avoiding Alcohol and get to know each other!

That's touchy. Women's equality comes into play here. For a fancy meal (like on a date), I'm the old fashioned guy who thinks a man should pay for the meal.
On a simple "lunch break outing" to Starbuck's coffee, I'm finding that women are wanting to go 50/50. However, I'm in my mid-twenties and money for that isn't as much of an issue as it would be for a teen. I'm finding that women tend to decline my generous offer to split my chocolate muffin in half.
As far as bars go... the first one is on you. And remember, someone has to drive her home, so that might be the last one for the night for you.

That's a hard one. Some people are old-fashioned & some have a different idea. It's good to find out right away what each one would really prefer. :)
Etiquette? I think what matters in this case is that it's between the two of them & what they wanna do?

Man pays for the first, after that its a toss up

Some women will demand that they be allowed to buy you a drink, especially for celebrations like a promotion or birthday.

It shouldn't matter who pays first. As long as you both are having fun who cares. Don't be like most women and assume that a guy will pay.....you might get your feelings hurt......

I think the man should pay. In my opinion, asking the woman to pay is tacky, esp. if it's like a first date or something. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I just think that guys should pay.
