Disclaimer: These questions are for SOME, not all, atheists.
1) you’re allowed to read and reply to any question on any forum, but ……..why are you here on the religion and spirituality forum?
2) Why do the same atheists seem to harass, poke and prod at believers? And then get mad when they return the fire?
3) why do you think some atheists post questions when they seem to think they already know the answer and then proceed to ridicule and make fun of people of faith who have given their sincere answer. Much like the play ground bully in elementary school.
4) why is it that Christians are so often called morons and idiots for believing the Bible, but these same names are rarely directed at Jews (who follow the same book, called the Torah, which is the Bible’s first testament) or at Muslims?
5) why do so many atheists criticize Christians for not accepting other religions, philosophies or ways of thinking when they themselves aren’t accepting of Christians?

No, I'm not threatened by the presence of atheists. I can't understand why so many ask a question about our faith and then don't accept our answers at face value.
I have read the Bible through more then once. I know what I believe and why I believe. Most churches and Sunday school classes go into great depth to explain Christian doctrine. One of the best selling Bibles is called the Life Application Bible which contains verse by verse explainations of the beliefs. Chrisitanity must be accepted or rejected by each individual believer....anything less is unacceptable to God. We are not mindless sheep.
I 100% believe the old and new testaments agree with each other. They do not give contridictions to the nature of God. The people's God smited in the first testament we those who practiced not only idol worship, "worship" prosititution, but child sacrificing. Disagree with me if you like, but my belief is no less valid then yours.

1) I am here to observe people and come to understanding of them. Religion causes people to go through dramatic changes and such changes are very curious to me.
2) A lot of Atheists feel hopeless as far as rational thinking applied to Theists does not work. Out of frustration they will begin to just insult rather than debate.
3) We post questions that we know the answer to because we wish for you to derive at the same answer without us spoon feeding it to you. If we were to tell you the answer you might not accept it. Having you come to the same conclusion is much easier.
4) Read the Bible, the bible is filled with many outrageous claims that are complete lunacy. I believe anyone who believes in the Bible is quite gullible.. That includes Jews.
5) Because many Christians state that they know for a fact that their religion is the correct one.. They have no evidence to back this up and are unwilling to acknowledge they might be wrong.

1. Because I know almost as much (if not more) about Christianity than the typical Christian. Because I can answer questions competently and accurately just as well as anyone else. Because I'm here to learn and to teach. Because atheists are asked questions ALL THE TIME... who better to answer these than atheists?
2. Some people like to be facetious. Sometimes it comes off as cruel. I don't know that many of the really good natured, witty atheists here can't take some return fire.
3. Sometimes they aren't atheists, they're trolls. That's what trolls do, after all. They ask a question only so they can set people up to be ridiculed. Sometimes the answers ARE just plain ridiculous. Sometimes it's uncalled for.
4. I don't often call anyone names like that. In fact, I can't recall the last time I actually bandied about ad hominems like that on this site. I DO often announce that I am indiscriminately opposed to faith, all faith, even Jewish or Muslim faith as well as any others you can think of.
5. The actual criticism is that most of the time, Christians have settled into their faith without having explored the other faiths of the world and without considering the possibility that being WITHOUT faith is the "right answer". More often than not, atheists HAVE been Christians, HAVE looked into other faiths, HAVE done their homework... that's why atheists ask Christians why they're so complacent with the blinders they've imposed onto themselves.

1) Just because we aren't religious personally doesn't mean that we can be interested in the idea of religion and learning about other's beliefs. Also, R&S includes spirituality, and atheists CAN be spiritual -- part of spirituality includes discovering your place and purpose in the universe, and finding what morals and ethics are important to you. Atheists want the answers to these questions, too ... even if we don't turn to a god to find them.
2)Some people just like to stir up trouble. One of my biggest problems with christians is that they don't seem to think very much about what they believe and why. I think its important for all of us to understand WHY we believe what we do -- whether it is really what we feel deep down inside to be true or whether we are just trying to fit in. This goes for atheists, too. I don't have a problem when believers "return the fire", as long as their responses are intelligent and well-thought out. I will make fun of you if you answer my question by copy-and-pasting bible verses that you've really put no thought behind.
3)Like I said before, some people just want to stir up trouble. There are christians who do it also.
4)Well, I believe that atheists and christians are the two majorities on this site. Yes, there are plenty of other people with different beliefs, but you see more atheists and christians than anybody else. One of my problems about christians and the bible is that in the new testament, Jesus talks of love and tolerance, and the old testament is very violent and intolerant. On one hand, you want to base your religion -- even the title -- around Jesus Christ, but turn to the old testament to back up your own hatred and intolerances. You can't have it both ways, and many christians try to. Also, in the United States, many atheists are dealing with christians who want to let their religion bleed all over politics and incorporate their ideaology into the rest of our lives -- abortion, gay marriage, intelligent design, prayer in school ... and I've never met anyone who was jewish that tried to force their beliefs on me.
5) I accept anyone, christian or not, who can be respectful of other people's ideas without being forceful about their own. There's a difference between intelligent debate and just flat-out attempting to convert us. I often say that I have no problem with spiritual theists - regardless of what god and/or prophet they follow - but I can't stand people who are RELIGIOUS. The religious feel that they have to have a sacred duty to shove their beliefs in our faces ALL THE TIME, always threaten us with the idea of hell, and that they must constantly point out the sins of others in order to make them feel better about their lives. So, no ... I don't have a tolerance for those people.

1.) I am interested in religion as an academic and philosophical subject.
2.) Some people are jerks--even atheists. I don't do this.
3.) Sometimes it is an effort to provoke people (see answer 2). Sometimes, I think, the "ridicule" is directed more toward the fact that on here, it is often difficult to get an informed answer to questions.
4.) Most likely, because Christians are the most vocal group in our society about the inerrancy of their text. If Muslims were attempting to change science classrooms to coincide with the Quran, they'd be placed under the microscope as well.
5.) Some people are jerks. Some people are hypocrites. And some people get tired of being told on a daily basis that they are going to hell; this makes them cranky and more "intolerant" toward the group dancing about their damnation.

1 in my experience, most atheists(or maybe more so agnostics) think a lot about spirituality etc because it clearly plays such a huge role in all of our lives. them not believing doesn't make the topic go away, and they have a valuable perspective.
2 they feel about christianity the way you feel about astrology or wicca or whatever philosophy you think is utter garbage. Christians are a healthy majority in the US, and they enjoy playing the outsider.
3. same as above, they feel more like they're bullying the bully.
4. plenty of atheists criticize muslims, but christians generally do it more so they don't feel as much of a need. and jews usually aren't as aggressive about their beliefs.
atheists reject every religion because of the supernatural. when christians accept the supernatural, they think it's weird to limit it to one book/idea. also i think christianity teaches acceptance of people, atheism has no such law, more based on rejecting superstition which includes people that believe in it.

1 to defend themselves.
2, most of them laugh at you self righteous fools, not get mad
3 Perhaps, they just want to know what YOU think about the subject, not what it says in the bible, which they have actually read, unlike many Christians And not what the Quran says, which they have also read.
4 Because the Jews don't make a point of telling Atheists they are going to hell for daring to think and for daring to not believe the drivel they are dishing.
5 Most atheists DO accept Christians, just not the CHRISTIANS who constantly try to force their beliefs down everyone else's throats.

Atheist are a small group that has no strong voice in the media. We are here to Speak our intelligent minds. All Atheist don't believe in the same things. We have different approaches to religion. Some want it gone completely some just want it to be different. Some don't care at all and don't come here.

Imagine you could have a one on one talk with George Bush. Would you point out all the good things about him, or would you voice your concerns. I have this oppurtunity to talk to a lot of Christians on here, and while I admit they have a lot of good ideas, and do a lot of good things, I do have some concerns with Christianity, and really all organized religions, but since Christianity is the biggest religion here (and in the world) it's the one I focus on.
And my mom's jewish so i'd feel bad knocking them, though most of my beef is in the O.T.
