Because the balance of power is shifting and people are moving away from militantly dogmatic religions like christianity in many parts of the world. Because there are a lot more free thinkers than we previously suspected. Because Christians have so many subtle shades and dividers that they themselves are unwilling to give each other a thumbs up.
Peace!

I would not say that I've actually seen many freethinkers, non-believers, realists, and 'down-to-earth' humans getting thumbs ratings that were positive on most of the questions I've read, therefore I think it depends what questions you use as a sample set...

Freethinkers = Meditators (dictionary)
Non-believers=??!
Realist = The attitude or practice of accepting a situation as it is and dealing with it accordingly ( dictionary)
" Down-to-earth ' humans = Sufferers, as we are all one way or the other somewhere in the line of living, somehow,
Christians = We can not Judge others................
"Thumbs-up" for whoever to reduce the suffering or at least not cause suffering.

I don't know if that is really true, but I wouldn't doubt it.
I think the main thing is that, as someone else pointed out, Christians are probably a minority over-all, and even if we are not, there are often disagreements in how some questions answered between christians because christianity is a very broad and far sweeping designation.
After all, there are both hyper conservative and hyper liberal people within christianity. We often disagree on certain things.
Aside from that, I think a lot of christians think that arguing against a question is just as sufficient as answering a question. The reason for this is that we often times feel attacked (just as, I'm sure, the non-believers often-times feel attacked), and we then strike back out of bitterness.
It's really not fair to anyone. But honestly, there could be a bit more civility on both sides. I'm sure that's something we could all agree on.

Good question, but it could be a matter of who is more logical and tactful. It can be hard to express Christian beliefs without being tacky or just all out overenthusiastic about it. I've also seen some very tacky and overenthusiastic atheist responses get thumbs down, too.

I imagine that most Christians will give a kind "thumbs up" to those folks where as the "others" usually come on here to try and create dissension and problems.
Just a thought.

I'm not sure they do but the only thing that hurts me is that the non- believers seem to get a big thrill in putting down the Lord and savior Jesus Christ who died on the cross for everyone including them.

Cant say that is always true, but Christians like me are fairly "down-to-earth"

Because "the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." So it is natural that the Christians are outnumbered. Good question!

I agree :( Unfortunatly, christians are "tacky" and "over enthusiastic" or a "fanatic", while a nonbeliever can go to a concert and scream there lungs out and have posters all over walls of a band that never has, and never will, do anything for them, and they are not considered any of these things....
I dont understand it, but you have to keep on keeping on!
