Drink 1 8oz glass of water with 1/2 teaspoon salt, follow with more water. Stretch and deep breathing exercises help to release tension in the muscles to. If you have the time a 15-20 minute soak in a warm bath with 1 cup baking soda or 1/2 cup Epsom salt also works wonders if you don't have time take 1 aspirin (not Tylenol) just before bed with 8oz of water. you will fell better in the morning. Good Luck!

Rest, trade off ice and heat packs (never for more than 20 minutes at a time), lots of water, and an over-the-counter pain medication if you really need it. Adding warm-up and cool-down stretches to your workout will also help prevent future soreness.

Rest if they hurt. Always stretch every day and after workouts. Try protein loading within 30 minutes after a workout...some data says that helps repair and build more quickly. Stay hydrated through the day. If they really hurt, are swollen, and/or you have back/side pain, consider a trip to ER; extreme exersion and/or dehydration can cause muscle breakdown and resulting kidney failure.

what I do when my muscles are sore is to soak in a tub of warm water with a little salt in it. I use table salt, maybe a 1/4 of a cup and this helps me.

Stretch, and keep working out. Lightly, but do not let your muscles sit, because that will only make them hurt more.
Tiger Balm or a massage in addition with stretching and working out lightly will also work.
