Sorry that you have only had bad experiences with Christians. I have had the best experiences and the worst. Being in ministry you tend to see both. Most negative have been with religious, self righteous, selfish "so called Christians," but all of my closest friends, I have grown up with, have been hard core Christians there whole life. A few mess ups here and there, of coarse, but they have never left me, and have loved me somewhat like Christ has shown His love for me. For years they have layed there life down for me.
For me being alone, with no true lifelong friendships and most of all not having a real relationship with Jesus, would be the most depressing thing I could ever think of. I hope that some day you experience this, cause once you do, you won't want anything else.

"After all, the only meaning you can find in your lives is god. Isn't that a depressing way to live? "
Using your logic, I should be twice as depressed since I believe in a god and a goddess...and yet I'm not.
Worry less about the religious beliefs of others. A lot of people become Wiccans just to rebel against a Christian upbringing, but they usually drop out. Joining a religion just to get back at mom and dad is never a good idea. From this question, it sounds like you're hoping to start a "flame war".

I don't think thats a fair assessment. Are their plenty of negative christians out there? Yes. I cannot deny that. But there are also a lot of very positive christians out there as well. That is true of just about every sub-culture though, there are positive people and negative people in every group. While a religion can definitely impact the disposition of a person, really its a persons home life that truly sets how they interact with the world at large.
As to the second part of your question; I believe that God created us to glorify Him. He did, however, give us the ability to chose who or what we would glorify and lift up.
Many people find meaning in their lives by glorifying themselves, or someone important to them ... or perhaps a cause that they believe to be just.
Christians direct this desire and drive into lifting up our God. By doing that, we find purpose in our lives. As a christian, if I am living to try and glorify God, I am also lifting up and encouraging my wife and child, I'm helping to build the foundations of my community, and helping those in need.
Through these things (bearing in mind that it all starts off with wanting to glorify God) I find deep meaning and importance in my life, and if I'm doing them because I truly love my God, then I'm going to do them to the best of my ability.
It is not a depressing way to live at all.

I used to be a negative, pessimistic, cynical, suspicious and downright depressing person for many years, before and even after becoming a Christian. But the longer I held on to God, the less miserable I became. Now I'm very relaxed and enjoy life and people. I can accept the things I can't change and am able to see the good in others, whereas before I couldn't. If it wasn't for God in my life I would be a very sick minded person today.

"Why are many Christians such negative people? "
And this question is postive how? You honestly don't think Christians are going to sit by and say nothing?
I asked some questions about Wicca and picked a question some Wiccans didn't like. I finally blocked my email because the person wouldn't stop trying to convince me I was wrong.
Being intolerant of other people's ideas, even though they may not agree eith yours, that's a depressing way to live.

You are wearing the wrong glasses !!!
He causes us to rejoice, not at anybodies misfortune, but in their ability to achieve good and not evil. If we point out sin we still love the sinner. We encourage you to experience God's forgiveness like we have. Why should you carry guilt and sin around when Jesus thru the Holy Spirit can remove it from you. That will make you and the rest of us very happy

Honey, it isn't just Christians. I have a so-called Wiccan stalking me and getting my answers deleted. Dana S has a crazy so-called Wiccan who used to stalk her. I've gotten emails from Muslims telling me I have to study Islam and I can have sex until I'm married (LOL!) There are good and bad in every religion, and asking a question like this just shows you want the Christians to argue with you.

Yes it is, but it is worth it in the end!!! The real reason, that I believe, is that they have got negative attitudes toured them because of there religion, like what other people are answering most likely. And that is why they really are depressed. I am not blaming God.
And Mere_Mortal, we ARE NOT AFRAID AF DEATH, WE **WANT TO DIE** BECAUSE WE *KNOW* THAT WE ARE GOING TO HEAVEN TO THE GOD WE SERVE. WE ARE NOT SCARED OF DEATH OR SEX! WE JUST DON'T DO IT BEFORE WE ARE MARRIED!

The depressing thing would be just existing in life having no answer for its purpose.

I use to be a Christian....but I found that it made me even more depressed because I was always worried about whether I was sinning or not, and I constantly felt guilty for doing certain things or thinking certain things. I'm glad I grew out of that phase!
A lot of Christians are negative because they think the world would be "perfect" if we were all Christian....and they are bitter because they know it just won't happen.
