Yes they are.
Galatians 3:24 Therefore the Law (commandments) has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.
(parenthesis mine)
When we line up our lives in light of the 10 commandments we see where we fall short (sin) and need a savior. No one can say that they have always kept all of the commandments.
Although Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law, that doesn't mean that it is done away with. The 10 commandments are the essence of what we as believers live by.
Romans 7:12 So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. Christians are not to abandon the 10 commandments and "live by grace". That is called licentiousness (or thinking of grace as a license to sin).
Read and study the bible Old and New Testaments.
I hope this helps answer you question.

I only agree with a few of the commandments. Like... commandments #1 and 2 contradict themselves:
1. You shall have no other god other than me
2. You shall not make yourself an idol/god.
God would then be breaking his own commandment.
#3, I don't really care for because I'm not a follower of christianity. As for the rest, if you needed a bible to tell you that oh my gawd. You don't go around commiting murders, stealing, lying, cheat, etc.

Yes the original ten commandments Which the mainstream christian don't even follow the first one (though shall not kill ) why because it was changed. Go to gospelofthenazirenes.c for the original New Testament and ten commandments before king Constantine misconstrued everything. It was easy to do back then because only the high priests had copies and the Government officials and women couldn't read.

Peace and every blessing!
Yes, very important. The Ten Commandments is the expression of the two great commandments. "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul." And, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Notice that the first four commandments are about how we should love God. The next six commandments are about how we should love our neighbour.

The Ten Commandments are easy to keep. You know you are doing SOMETHING wrong when you are breaking them.

Yes, they are important to me. If more people obeyed them, our world wouldn't be in the shape that it is in.....or at least not to the point it is today.
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Good rule of thumb)
2. Thou shalt not worship any graven idols. (Won't do you any good anyways, they are man-made and can not save you)
3. Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain. (Why would you want to?)
4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. (God created this world for us, gave His only son for us, why shouldn't we take 1 day a week to honor Him?)
5. Honor your mother and your father. (We should do this out of love and respect for them anyways)
6. Thou shalt not kill. (I think this one speaks for itself)
7. Thou shalt not commit adultry. (If more obeyed this command, our divorce rate, suicides, especially in teen/children would be down as would STD's)
8. Thou shalt not steal. (This would lower taxes and prices on things, as well as unneccessary deaths)
9. Thou shalt not lie. (No one wants to be lied to anyway)
10. Thou shalt not covet. (Won't do any good anyway, just wanting what someone else has doesn't help you at all)
Since it was important enough for God to give this set of rules or regulations, that is reason enough for it to be important to me.

I believe in being a good honest hard working non-adulterous person. Now, the 10 commandments are from the bible and I think that book is fictional...but the commandments are just normal morals and ethics...don't kill, don't lie...steal, covet thy neighbors sh** etc...so maybe they're important to me. But only as ethics and not in any sort of biblical sense. They just happen to be good rules to live by that were written in a christians book...blah blah blah...

Not important to me per se, but they are good guides for sociable behavior among humans, and common-sensical and they bear following. All organized religion, it seems, is a way of motivating all of us to minimize the baser elements of the human character.

Yes. I believe it is the foundation stone for society. The First half has to do with our relationship to God and the Second half has to do with our relationship to each other. God is all about relationship.
