Its hard to say with the national guard, but your MOS is a definite need in Iraq/Afghanistan. I am an MP, just returned from Iraq and they love MP's in the middle east. We are the best and always will be.

zhuchen - don't be so naive, that would have hit al-Jazeera news in a flash(splitting little children in half).
To the question - Right now states leaders around our nation are resisting deployment of NG men's to Iraq, due to the high need for them at home caused by natural disasters, and other emergencies. Its highly unlikely at this point, but, remotely possible too.
Question - why join the MP services if you are non-confrontational, maybe redirecting your goals is in order. More police and civilians are at risk at home then practically any other place in the world, with our humongous crime and imprisonment rate.

Actually no but they may reassign you to a different unit. A former co-worker of mine move from Virginia to NJ and he was a Reservist. He was an MP but his new unit in NJ was already deploying to Iraq as he was moving. The Army delayed his transfer until they could reassign him to a laundry detail and then shipped him to Iraq under a detail in which he would be installing showers.

no, you don't... call the The GI Rights Hotline (800) 394-9544.
It's a hotline for military personnel wanting information about military discharges, grievance and complaint procedures, and other civil rights. They take hundreds of calls a week from people all branches of the military, with a real range of questions about their rights, and deployment to Iraq is huge right now as so many soldiers don't want to fight for Bush's lies.

Enjoy the flight and don't torture anyone when you get there. That seems to be a problem with MPs lately.

No...you don't have to go if called up. You can refuse to by saying you feel the war is illegal, like that guy in Hawaii. However, he is receiving a court martial.
