im trying to gather a list of materials that can be used in different structures to insulate sounds, and sound waves. (i.e. speaker box, recording studios, & recording booths) i need to keep the interior sounds inside the structure and also all the exterior sounds outside. im really interested in finding pros and cons of each material. so i can determine the best material for each project
and projected cost. any info is greatly appreciated. if someone knows a website i can go to that would be truly helpful. thanks in advance

It all depends on what you are looking for. If it is just insulation, double concete walls work the best. Or in other words, build another room within the room meant for the studio. Make sure the newly built room is held within the outer frame of the building using sound proof components. Mainly rubber coated materials.
This is the ideal way to get this done, but is real costly. you need to build a false cieling and a false floor !

As a cheaper option, use glass wool between the wall and your acoustic treatment tiles. It really helps cutting down the high frequencies. But to really cut down the Lo's, only the above mentioned "ideal" way works !

foam. I know a lot of musicians who put that egg carton foam on the ceilings and walls of their studios to help insulate. low-tech kids use matresses against the walls in their rehearsals spaces to insulate.
