Yes if your epiglottis does not close when you eat, cough, talk or drink. Lots of older people end up with aspiration pneumonia due to this. People who are drunk can go to sleep and vomit aspirate it into their lungs and die. So yes its possible

if it is still in your esophagus it you it may end up in your lungs and cause a lot of serious problems
