I spent the night with my boyfriend, who is black, and the only shampoo he had was black people shampoo (Motions). So I used it (he said it would be fine) I'm white...and now my hair doesn't feel the same. My old texture is slowly coming back...but what happened?? I guess black people shampoo is really meant for just blacks! LOL..
They need to put that on the label!!!

LOL at me being offensive when my BOYFRIEND IS BLACK?? Right. That one made me laugh.
Don't get offended, I obviously love black people.
And yes, I told my boyfriend right away my hair feels different. He said it would wash out...
And DUH there is such a thing as "white" and "black" shampoos. Yeah, in some instances blacks can use white shampoos...my boyfriend used to but it didn't make his hair feel as it does now that he uses Motions. Some shampoos are made for white people's hair and some are made for black people's hair. GET OVER IT!
The girl I picked as best answer is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! The rest of you stop trying to make me sound as if I'm trying to be offensive. You're making yourself look retarded. Have a nice day =)

...you know why, because Motions adds moisture to the hair, which ethnic hair NEEDS...I really think that's what it is, I also use "white" shampoo's sometimes and the difference is that Motion's is targeted towards a specific hair type just as any shampoo is; however, the hair type they're targeting needs added moisture...and thus they've put it in their shampoo...I think your hair will be fine after 2 or 3 good washes...try a clarifying shampoo...your hair feels different to the touch b/c you have these topical moisture aids on the actual hair cuticle...they'll wash off though...

It's probably because your hair was so used to your regular shampoo that any different shampoo (for black or white hair) would make your hair feel weird. For the most part there is really no difference between white shampoos and black ones. It's just a marketing ploy used to sell more products. I love me some Pantene for curly hair and Paul Mitchell as much as I love Fantasia 100%Tea shampoo.

Well, the mere fact that many "black" people use "white" products with no negative effects suggests that the issue is actually NOT necessarily always the target demographic of the product, but possibly the quality of the product. I use Pantene in my hair. I've used it for years now. It works GREAT.
I used to use Suave a long time ago 'cause it was inexpensive, and I didn't understand the importance of a good and true shampoo. Suave was like using pure body soap in my hair...a very BAD move.
The thing about black hair, at least, in many people's minds, is that it gets damaged easily. Thus, "targeted" shampoos may be made to increase the amount of oil retention or placement in hair to maintain the texture.
Anyway, don't use Motions ever again, and bring your own shampoo to you man's house.
Oh, and calling it "black people shampoo" is patently offensive. Just trying to help you out. Language is power.

There is no difference in the shampoo its your hair and what works for your hair. I use shampoos which are advertised for caucasion people which works better for my hair. I tried using Motions products and it just wasn't working for my hair and I'm african american. It just depend on your hair and genetics. Good luck with that! Don't tell your boyfriend lol! BYOS!!!

First of all, there is no such things as "black" or "white" shampoo. There are shampoos that are designed for chemically treated and various hair textures. You hair texture CAN NOT change because you shampooed your hair with shampoo, the ONLY way your hair texture can change is using a chemical to change it. And if you would have READ the label, you would know what type of shampoo it is, Motions is a moisterizing shampoo for chemically treated hair, it says it on the label, I know because I use it for myself. Next time bring your own "white" shampoo to your boyfriend house.
