What exactly is a tapeworm, how does it get in you, and can you get it from eating raw foods (what about sushi)?

Tapeworms are a group of parasitic worms that live in the intestinal tracts of some animals. Several different species of tapeworms can infect humans. Tapeworm disease or cestodiasis occurs most commonly after eating raw or undercooked meat or fish that contains the immature form of the tapeworm.

Eeewwww, did you catch last weeks episode of HOUSE? Big huge tapeworm in a girls intestines.

I believe you can get it from eating raw food, because of the bacteria in the meat. I know it is not a good thing to have becareful.

it's hard to get ,but you can get from other children that love sand boxes ,from cat's .
there's one time pill you get from the doctor.
I never heard it from food ,so you safe with sushi.
One big sign ,if you eat ,and you keep loosing allot of weight.

Pork (under cooked) gives you pin worms
Chicken (under cooked) can give you tape worms

my cats just had tapeworms- the vet said it was from flea bites.sorry thats all I know.

You can get it from eating pork. It can also go into your brain.
