what ~earthly~ legal contracts other people enter into? When Adam and Steve make a legal contract (marriage) it has no bearing on your ~Christian~ marriage ritual for yourself and like-minded spouse and family and priest, et cetera ... correct?

I mean Christians are always quick to point out how God's law trumps man's law. So then why do you interfere with man's law at all, when man's law is made for the rest of us who don't believe as you do? Why won't you let God administer His own laws?

Avatars ... you are missing (and not addressing) the point. It's not your business whether Adam and Steve extinct themselves (in fact, I would think it would make you happy if they did).

Never heard of a country withering (!) because it's citizens minded their own business ... methinks you are being melodramatic. Regardless, you still don't have the right to force your concept of morals down the throats of others, not even because you say so. (Your ilk are constantly inventing rights for themselves based on nothing more than just because they say so.)

This is fairly tangential (Da Mick, you are missing the point too), but why do chimpanzees sodomize each other in the wild on National Geographic (they appear bisexual)? Lifestyle choice?

To a pretty far extent, I agree with you ... but I'm really bent towards the other perspective.

Marriage was first a religious institution, and not an institution of any government.

When the United States started issuing tax breaks for married couples it really entered into a sticky situation, and one that it would never be able to back out of. Effectively, the government sanctioned a religious act which is why we have the civil union/marriage issue that we have today.

In my opinion, no government should be able to sanction a 'marriage,' as that is a religious term. Governments should only be able to form legal contracts, which would be a civil unions (not a marriage as you had said, considering that marriage is of a religious nature.)
This is why so many christians get bent out of shape about upholding the sanctity of marriage - it's their turf - not the governments.

But to be fair, this is not only a christian vs. state issue. This is a religion in general vs. state issue as almost all religions enact some form of marriage and very few will enable homosexual marriages.

Maybe Adam wasn't made to marry Steve. I mean come on, they can't even make a baby. And you weren't born from two men. If you really think about it, it's not even a race, only leaving the option of a choice, or lifestyle. I mean really, I don't know of any archaelogical evidence of a race, nor scientific proof of a "Gay Gene."(Only the propaganda of it.) just that some guy got tired of women and decided he wanted to be with a man. But here's a thought: Was the first guy who was gay open? Or did he hide it from his friends and other esteemed gentlemen?

Any country that lets go of its moral standards sooner or later will decay and wither away. So I would have to say that it is everyones business

You have not looked hard enough. I can tell you what the bible says and that would not be good enough. God loves all people it is the sin he despises. The end result of sin is death and that does not only pertain to spiritual. Did you ever think that people may have strong opinions just because they care.

Because Peter wrote " though shalt most certainly stick thine nose into the daily lives of all people, in every matter, and impose upon them your rules, amen"..
And then Christians ***** about Sharia law in Islamic lands saying they should be able to preach even though Islamic law does not allow them to..

They are quick to point this out because someone told them to. Probably the same priest who is molesting a kid in the back room.
