You should have a switch in the trunk that turns off the air ride before the car is put on a lift. You may have lifted the car without turning off the switch and over inflating the bags. I think you can disconnect an air line and deflate them back to normal.. They do sell replacement bags if yours are damaged ..but $$$$$ .. They also sell regular coil springs that can be put in instead of the air ride... hope this helps ...

Hy, Based on my own experience with a 93 mark viii, the main reasons are:A---- mechanical failures :1 - puncture of the bag, (very rare)... 2 - heavy usage of the air bag / the mileage... and/or fatigue of the rubber bag ,a 16 years piece a rubber is very old ...it starts with fine cracks, small leaks , big leaks , and finally a rupture of the bag wall ...happened to my car ...keep in mind , the thickness of an air bag is less than 3 mm (7/64''). 3 - water in the system can destroy some parts: the connection between rubber bag and metal parts (on mark viii the back suspensions supports are plastic, I suppose is the same with continental ) usually the first ones to go are the front struts, because are more complex (the shocks are inside of the air bag, the seal area is on shocks who are steel and can rust ) you have to check the whole system before replacing the bags. B---- electronic system/reading failure: 1 - solenoid or o-ring failure (is a electric valve commanded by the suspension computer who let the air inside the bag from the compressor) 2 - high sensor failure, the sensor is sending a wrong signal to computer who can deflate (taking out the air from the bag) and send the error message.3 - suspension computer error or failure... I DO RECOMMEND NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH BAD SUSPENSIONS !!! Usually the back air bags are way cheaper than the front and is a must to be replaced as a pair. If your whole suspension system is damaged could be very expensive to fix or replace. Personally i made the switch on coil spring (regular ones cost me 400$ shipped for front and back, I have manage to switch them myself, so I saved a lot ), to repair the original suspensions was for me way to expensive for parts. You can search online for "suspension conversion kit" for your car model if you decide to made the switch.

This is one thing you need to do in trunk left side and push the off sw Before jacking -&- towing .You don"t need to worry as long as

car is up,the Kicker is when you walk out the Door and body is down and sitting on struts.
