You're asking if atheists accept that some people "get away with murder?" The answer is yes, we do accept this.
One of the very first things you learn in life, whether you are a theist or an atheist, is that life is not fair. This is a very uncomfortable concept for anyone, so theists choose to comfort themselves with the belief that there is a "higher justice" that all humans must eventually answer to. Like most forms of denial, this belief is simply a means to alleviate one of the many painful aspects of human existence.
While it bothers me that people can be evil with no retribution, ultimately it is our own failings as human beings that are the cause, and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

No atheist now living was the first atheist. An atheist is a person without God. No atheist now living is responsible for the existence of atheism.
Common sense reality in the present day is what must prove
whether a religion is absolute truth or not.
Assuming that God is, and assuming that he is just, eternal punishment would be reserved for those who destroyed life
with malice, and intent.
Criminals are often not made to pay immediately and directly
for their crimes. Most of us have to protect ourselves from them
and we're not completely safe. But neither are they.
Assuming that God is, and assuming that he is completely just,
atheists would not go to hell for being atheists. The only kind
of atheist that would go to hell would be a violent criminal who
destroyed human life intentionally and with malice.
There are Christians who believe that hell is for those who cannot believe, did that or the other wrong.
If the new testament is completely true, non-violent human error
was already atoned for by Jesus' sacrifice of himself.
If the new testament is completely true, then people who never
knew his words still do by nature the things he commanded.
Atheists provide a counterbalance to falsehood. If someone utters complete falsehoods about religion, faith, and prayer,
they'll spot it first.

Since atheists do not believe in any sort of afterlife, any punishment for crimes takes place in this life or not at all. Atheism simply means to not believe in the existence of a god, so all of the trappings that would go with such a belief -- worship, prayer, tithes, et cetera -- are a waste of time, and atheists don't do them. The typical atheist is a pragmatist and empiricist: he will believe in anything for which there is sufficient evidence, but in nothing for which there is no evidence at all -- such as a god.

If they're guilty of a crime, they go to jail. They're isolated from the community, and (hopefully) see what they've done wrong, and can be re-assimilated.
Rarely, however, do they recieve justice. Charles Manson commited heinous murders, and yet he is fed 3 times a day...for the rest of his life. Child molestors do their time, and in many cases are released, while their victims struggle with their scars. The punishment should fit the crime, the problem is that, like with faith, you can't get people to agree on a fitting punishment.
Ironically, according to christian belief, anyone who is "evil" can go to heaven, just by accepting Jesus, and being sorry for their sins. The souls that are going to hell are the ones who didn't accept Christ.

EVERYONE is Christan to most Atheist on YA, you will find they see them around every corner....quite irrational that lot...
Each atheist thinks differently on this one since they are not an organized belief system.
I know I think wrong doers live miserable hollow lives and are too stupid to know it.
When you find "true intelligence" you will always find true kindness...this is a hard one to explain in English (or any language) it almost must be experienced or felt, so go with the "gist" of it.
They pay by being who they are, which means they miss out on the best stuff and can't even concept what they are missing.

I take comfort in the fact that sometimes justice is served .
and I'm not kidding myself by waiting for a tribunal after death !
Does Charles Manson pay? Did Saddam Hussein pay ?
where is this judgment day that Christians tout ?
No offense but I'll stick with a mature outlook over the ehem other one. Hope your question is cleared up to your satisfaction.
No offense taken or intended . I'm well accustomed to the word sin and it translates just fine as religious immorality to ethical or legal injustice both are culpabilities to me if justified.
presuming you are Christian note that the bible say god favors or loves justice well before most things. Can't quote it right off but his presumed preferences are stated as well as his worst dislikes & these are interesting and helpful sometimes even if I don't believe in the divinity of the word.

I can't think of anything worse than being locked in a tiny little cell for the rest of your life unable to leave. I'd rather be dead. I'd say they suffer bad for it.
Knowing that this is the only life you have, don't you think a terrible thing it would really be to end it because people wouldn't take your crap and decided to give you the gas chamber?
See an Atheist learns to love the one and only life you have because there is no other. Its Christians that seem to find no value in their lives other than serving their god. An Atheist finds deep value in every breath.

They get away with it at times, and at other times they dont. If you live a life of doing 'wrong' and you do get away with it, this will only do you harm in the long run, because lying will alter your behaviour ever so slightly over that time.
If people do 'wrong' and no one on earth notices that 'wrong' was ever done, then whats the problem?
Punishment for things are in this lifetime.
I am not just speaking of CRIMES

If they get caught yes. Most Atheists believe that morality should come from the social ties, traditions, and values one develops throughout their life, not from fear of punishment or hope of reward. Less than 1% of the US prison population is 'atheist' vs. about 10% in the general population. So I think we are pretty well covered when compared to other religious groups.

Interesting concept. I actually keep thinking of innocent people who are being severely punished, all their lives, without having committed one single crime, or even hurt anyone.
Children born with severe brain damage, having their entire life wasted and causing anguish and suffering to their families.
Children born in poverty, condemned to a life of suffering and many times abuse and molestation,
Innocent adults who are victims of serious crime, for no particular reason, having their lives destroyed forever....
Millions of miserable people all over the world suffering hunger, diseases and terrible deaths...
Instead of thinking if wrong-doers will be punished, I keep thinking : why are millionns and millions of truly innocent people being punished?
This is not an attack question, just want to know something.
