"This Gitopanisad, Bhagavad-gita, the essence of all the Upanisads, is just like a cow, and Lord Krishna, who is famous as a cowherd boy, is milking this cow. Arjuna is just like a calf, and learned scholars and pure devotees are to drink the nectarean milk of Bhagavad-gita." (Gita-mahatmya 6)

Krishna is giving different processes in the Bhagvad-gita and does not force that one adopt any process, though He has given the topmostt, Bhakti yoga.. He has given free-will because love has to be natural and not out of force. It is universal.

For instance, Krishna in the Bhagavad gita gives different processes, viz., Karma Yoga, Sankhya YogaJnanga Yoga, Dhyana Yoga and ultimately Bhakti Yoga. Even in the 12th chapter entitled Bhakti Yoga, Krishna gives various options if one cannot adopt Bhakti Yoga, one can follow the regulative principles of Bhakti Yoga. If not even that then work for the Param Brahma. If one cannot even do that in the verse 12 Krishna says some more options,"If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind."

Also after giving the final instructions to Arjuna that he should surrender unto the Supersoul dwelling withing the hearts of all Krishna says without forcing Arjuna but gives him freedom of choice by telling, "Deliberate on this fully, and then do what you wish to do".

Bhagavad Gita means the song of God (it is the only holy book spoken by God Himself) all other holy books are written about God. IT is a true history of Krishna (God ) who actually appeared 5,000 years ago in His original form (not made of material elements) But He only revealed Himself to who He pleased. The Gita was spoken on a battlefield where 640,000,000 people died. They all got one of the five kinds of liberation, because Krishna was there. Read it and you will see its authenticity. Make sure you read Bhaktivedanta Prabhupadas' translation As it is. Krishna says one must read this Gita from someone in a an unbroken chain of disciplic succession steaming from Him and Prabhupada is from that. go to harekrishnatemple.c for all details.

The Bhagavad Gita is the word of the Divine as delivered from His lips. It is an attempt to right the world by dispelling ignorance and enlightening people to their purpose, their duties, and the role of the Divine.

In many ways, the Bhagavad Gita is seemingly a heterogeneous text, but it reconciles many facets and schools of Hindu philosophy, including those of Brahmanical (i.e., orthodox Vedic) origin and the parallel ascetic and Yogic traditions. It comprises primarily Vedic (as in the four Vedas, as opposed to the Upanishads/Vedanta), Upanishadic, Sankhya and Yogic philosophies.

For its religious depth, quintessential Upanishadic and Yogic philosophy and beauty of verse, the Bhagavad Gita is one of the most compelling and important texts of the Hindu tradition. It is considered by many as one of the world's greatest religious and spiritual scriptures.
