Let's say I'm a good, devout Christian. When I die, I become a purified, immortal spirit. So what if I then decide I don't like the afterlife/heaven? Then what? Do I still have to obey god?

If you say, "I'll have no choice but to like it." then you're effectively saying that we lose the power to choose when we die, which means we are even less in control of ourselves in the afterlife than we are in this life.

If one proves ones self by enduring a mortal existence, why can't one get to do what one wants for the rest of eternity? Maybe at that point I won't want to obey god, or be with him, or maybe I'll want him to obey me for a while. Maybe I won't be the only one who thinks this way. Maybe billions of others will side with me, and we'll overthrow heaven. If god truly loves us, he shouldn't stop us, right?

"Let's say I'm a good, devout Christian. When I die, I become a purified, immortal spirit..." -- so you're a purified immortal spirit -- any suggestion of rebellion after that is just a contradiction

I do appreciate your curiousity and that it may be a way for you to explore/seek the truth [I think I misread you as just another basher the first time I answered one of your questions earlier] but do you really think that all these "man or self-centered" suppositions are in line with what you learn about the nature of God -- we read over and over in the Biblical revelation that "who are we to question the Almighty's ways", and that we can't even begin to understand him -- (for instance I just happen to be about half way through reading the book of Job) -- getting too caught up in all this kind of stuff will just get you lost IMO, and estrange you in your relationship with God

I think that God has probably revealed as much to us as we are able to understand about Him and we'll just have to be patient on the rest until we no longer see through the glass dimly and instead see Him face to face, now we only know in part, but then we shall know fully (1 Cor 13:12).

A lot of people (including myself) spend way too much time reading books etc. on Christianity, etc. etc. and far too little time just doing plain old Bible reading -- when I am able to immerse myself in it via an aggressive reading plan (its so much easier than you think) I find I learn so much more than I could any other way

A child of God, born in Adam's nature(Adamic nature), is reborn (spiritually) in Christ's nature, or is "reborn", doesn't hold onto these fleshly, carnal desires that I'm reading in your question. Actually, the sin of pride seems to stand out. Lucifer(satan), once thought he could be as powerful as God, but no matter what he thought, wanted, etc., he suffered an eternal consequence! Maybe billions will side with you, but personally with your disrespectful attitude towards the Almighty God and thankless heart for the life He gave you, I don't think it really matters who's on your side, when at the Great White Throne Judgment (for the unsaved only), you must account ALONE for your life on this earth when the Lord says the seven saddest words you'll ever hear "depart from me, I never knew you". I pray this won't be the case for you, so pleeeeease read your bible, and pray to our powerful, awsome God to give you a renewed spirit and heart!! Because God truly loves YOU just the way you are, He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be like Jesus - meaning into Christ's image. NOT to be His equal! God is far above us, yet was willing to come in human form (Jesus) down to us! Make the right choice to have a loving relationship with the Savior before it's too late, no matter who is or who isn't on your side. "If God be for us, who can be against us"

Already got here about. And the hot more beneficial effective God, God of an finished universe, and not in any respect basically God of a unmarried image voltaic equipment's one puny, conscious-of-its-personal-mortality species, would not fairly supply a crap about us. He basically needed to run the lesser Gods who were exhibiting up hither and yon and messing with species' lives out of city on a rail. This all got here about about 2 millennia in the past, and that is why, considering then, there hasn't be a good purchase of tremendous intervention from the Uber God.

God would never empower people with a "spirit" composition, who He has tested [judged] and found to be bent on living in a state of rebellion. This life [physical] we have now, is the learning curve for all of us to experience a earth under the sway of Satan and his rebellious influence on us all. BUT - when we have a real taste of the love of God, in a relationship with Him, would we even, want to rebell against Him, then ? I doubt it and every human will be offered that chance, who hasn't had it offered right now, at a later time after Jesus Returns to this earth. God is not going to allow another rebellion to occur like Satan did, prior to the re- creation of this earth's surface.

Well, Mormons kinda belive differently and I'll tell you about that. Ok so we blieve that you have the choice to be in one of the 3 glory's of heaven: Celestial, Terrestial, and Telestial. In order I believe... If you don't want any of those I'm not entirely sure what happens but you can be cast out with Satan and live with him instead. We also believe that we have the chose to do whatever we want which is part of the plan. Also if you try to overthrow heaven you will be with Satan wether you like it or not because that's how Satan got kicked out.

We started out with God but we all wanted to be God so He let us have this material world to play God in. We have been here a long long time in many different bodies. If you get there, which is very difficult, and you decide that bliss and happiness is just not your cup of tea...well, then you can come back to this cess pool. After all, that is why we are here in the first place. We wanted to be in control and God, being loving, let us have our wish but since He is way more powerful than us, He gets to be there and we have to try to get back from here.

You always have your free agency. You also will be able to suffer the consequences of your choices.
Our Heavenly Father has promised us All that He has. So yes It will be possible to have the same power and authority that God has,but He will always be our God. This will be determined by how wisely we use our agency
Things will be much different in Heaven. You most likely will not have the desire to disobey God

Hi !!!

Please, don't worry!!! Accordingly with the Bible, the word of GOD, once we are with him, there is no needs. Therefor no one will have the need to feel the way go are describing!!!

Like as the beginning of the world, there were NO needs, really, Adam & Eve, were totally free to do everything they wanted.

But just like parents should be always respected, because they are they vehicle in which why we come to be, so GOD needs to be respected, and obeyed, because HE IS the source and the vehicle in which all around us, came to be!!!

SO JUST PRAY AND MAKE YOUR CHOICE HERE, NOW!!!

GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

A.Z.

There has already been one war in Heaven. Lucifer and one-third of the hosts of heaven lost and were cast out.
