how old do you have to be to volunteer for a pharmacy?

It all depends upon the organization. As a hospital volunteer, I was able to volunteer in many areas, including the pharmacy at age 14. These days, I lead various teen volunteer projects, and one of my volunteers started working in one of the local hospital pharmacies at age 14, as well.

I recommend that you check with your local hospitals, health care organizations, and pharmacies in order to check local requirements. There are no consistent age requirements for volunteers at health care organizations. Many youth programs have a minimum age requirement of 14; however, some hospitals do not take volunteers younger than 16 or 18.

Typically, the hospital volunteer duties within the pharmacy were limited to errands, phone calls, administrative work, and other special projects.

There is no such thing as volunteering for a pharmacy, due to liabilities connected with the drugs behind the counter. Even delivery drivers are not or should not be allowed back there.
