Give yourself a few days to recover from practicing and some hot tea with lemon and honey could sooth the vocal cords. Also a humidifier will keep the air from getting too dry during the cold winter months. Rest, overall, is the most helpful for strained vocal cords.

Ummm, may I make a tiny suggestion....

If your vocals are weak from not practicing, the best suggestion I can give you would be to get back into your practice regimen.

It would be nice if there were easy shortcuts that we could take so that private lessons and such could go smoothly even if we hadn't practiced, by there is not. All you can do is start up where you left off, and try and make up the time as fast as you can.

The rehabilitation technique in the answer above mine is good. When you get back into singing, don't overdo it! Start out just doing warm ups; no songs. Do five note prgressions in major and minor keys, do arpeggios, mostly descending, then going back up to about a 4th below your full range. Then work on your breath support by doing long tones with and without vibrato. The vibrato will help loosen your cords a little, and without vibrato will strengthen them a bit.
