If he people are taught from the scriptures how to give and why to give there will be no problem with the finances in a church.
God's word says that He (God) loves a cheerful giver. When we are taught that He is the first example of giving, He gave his only begotten son, then we who want to be like him because we love Him, will be givers. That is in all our substance. Be it money, time, love, knowledge, or whatever we have, we will be willing to give. Israel gave so much that they had to be ask not to bring anything else for the building of the temple. They gave the best that they had. The widow with the 2 mites was a giver. So much so that Christ acknowledged her in front of all. He said she gave out of her own need. When one truly loves God who gave, they will give. In this all things will be supplied. Our congregation is only about 63 strong and not once have we had a bake sale, dinner or car wash. we have however been taught how and why to give.
I pray that this helps and will be praying for you all.

Why does a church need funds to stay in operation? Isn't the church the body of believers? Are you all going to stop being Christians because the meeting place is disbanded?

Jesus never said that we were to meet in a church building. He said to take up our cross and follow Him. He didn't even have somewhere to lay His head, at times so we need to be content with what we do have, not concerned with what we don't.

If your church building is supposed to remain functioning, try praying and asking God to provide. If He doesn't, ask Him what you should do.

There are many things. Try a "carnival" or a "Fun Night" where people can play games, eat, etc. A cook out, or depending on the weather, a yard sale. (Indoor yardsales work too) Plays also work too. You could also hold family movies. (Like a theater)
Hope these work for you in your time of need...

How about you pray for money? I'm keep of getting letters sent to my house saying jesus can get me millions...although I have to "donate" 40 dollars to the church.

But seriously, why doesnt god just beam down money? If he is all knowing, and powerful I'm sure he would understand WHY you would need the money.

Come on, pray for the money....I already know whats going to happen but pray on!

Maybe it wasn't meant to be. If people aren't willing to give funds to help keep it going, it must not be meeting their needs.
