penguin island is also worth the visit, it is accessed by ferry from rockingham just south of perth. The museum in the perth cultural center is also worth looking at. Northbridge is where the main nightlife is in perth. Yanchep national park and whiteman park are also great places to visit, along with lake leichenaultia

Make a trip to Rottnest Island - the ferry leaves Hillarys Marina or Fremantle Boat Harbour daily. King's Park has some fantastic views, and Cottesloe beach is a must at sunset. You can also do a winery tour around the eastern suburbs (Sandalford, Jane Brook, Wise, Sitella wineries to name a few) all do lunches at a reasonable cost.

agree with Kelsey's suggestions... also check out Fremantle, it is about 30 mins south of Perth, has some interesting historic features and sights, including the old jail, it is now open for tours, including at night which are amazing if a bit spooky!

ok depending on what the purpose of the trip is.... if it is for sightseeing then take longer than 3 days, you will be so hot and sick of driving that you wont feel like sightseeing. you are looking at temperatures daily between 35 and 45 degrees c. if you can take a lot more time... as mentioned the good places are kalbarri, monkey mia ( dolphins) etc, but another absolute wonder is coral bay which is about an hour south of exmouth. all of thes places you will want to stay for a few days as they are lovely beachside holiday spots. just so you know karratha is a hole!

A cycle along the river across one of the bridges and back via the other bank, is a pleasant way to spend some time if its not too hot.
