Hairpoor, could be a hole/crack in the fuel line just above the fuel pump. When fuel gets below this crack thier is just enough loss of pressure because the fuel is recycled back into the tank, and it cuts out.Check by pressing in on the fuel pressure valve right after turning the engine off.If no pressure I believe I am correct.Be carefull so you do not get sprayed with fuel.

There could be a hole in the pickup of the fuel pump allowing it to pick up air. When it starts to run rough, run a fuel pressure test and a fuel volume test and see what you get. If you see air in the line, you'll have to replace the fuel pump. Just to warn you, the fuel pump for that truck is between 400-500 dollars

generally there could be one of three things wrong starting with the cheapest 1. fuel filter is half clogged 2. fuel pump is loose in the tank which in this case it will still run but give you the symptoms that you have. 3 weak fuel pump

You mat have a plugged fuel filter in the gas tank. It can cause restricted fuel flow caused by less weight and flow from lower weight in the fuel tank.

It sounds like your fuel pump is going bad.

When the tank is full, the pressure from gravity allows the pump to do relativly little work, but as the tank empties the pressure decreases and the pump has to start working harder and thats when you will notice the problem.

Maybe there's dirt in the bottom of the tank. A product called
Sea Foam will help clean the tank and make your vehicle run
smoother.

Sounds like you have a air leak in your fuel line inside your tank once the fuel level gets below the air leak it starts sucking air by air leak i mean a crack or small hole in fuel line

i do know my car did that when it was running low because gunk builds up from poor gas quality at the bottom of the tank over a long period of time, an when you run very low on gas its starts using up some of the build-up because that's all that's left... this is what someone told me but i dunno how factual it is
