At the top of your excel page look for a button that looks like a backwards E. This button is called the auto sum. you can select cells, and add them together by selecting them and then clicking this button. You may also set complex formulas by programing a cell to take information from different cells on your spread sheets to calculate. Look in the help file for more info on setting formulas.

SUM(a1-a20) would sum the a col cells 1 through 20.
