I cannot understand your confusion.
A carrot is a vegetable that is known all over the world, long, pointed and red/orange in colour.
Tastes slightly sweet, is usually served hot with other vegetables, though sometimes raw and grated as a salad ingredient.
It is also sometimes used as a cake ingredient e.g carror cake.
But I cannot understand why you are at a loss, am I missing something?
Hope that helps,
