Spray paint them. It will drive you crazy to try to paint them w/ a brush. But, 1st make sure they'r really clean.

Hi, I painted louvered doors with a brush. Then hand painted a winding vine with flowers down the side (the non louvered part) Then sprayed them with varnish. Attached some beautiful glass knobs. They are a stunning piece of art now.

you'd need to cover them with a sheet of toughened glass to make the surface usable for workspace, but It sounds pretty neat, you would also want to do something creative with the base and drawers etc

you can spray or bush them, but watch or drips
Also: if they are raw wood, they should be primed first
