Most people here are right. being good looking does matter in first impressions in certain aspects of life eg: during interviews, dates..i read somewhere that it is genetically programmed in us to be attracted to better looking partners so as to produce and ensure the survival of desirable offsprings. (that's why some men go for prettier and younger women while women want men who are financially stable. donald and melania trump might be a good example here...lol) don't fret yet..being good looking doesnt guarantee happiness. hollywood actresses get cheated on,divorced blablabla..

the bottom line is, you may never be as pretty as the cover girls..but it's how you project yourself that makes the difference. if you think you look like a witch, you may unconciously potray it to others and they would probably agree with you. i have a friend who's dark skinned, slightly overweight and has a gap between her 2 front teeth but a lot guys seem to be attracted to her because of her confidence.most of us are not blessed with naturally good looks but a makeover (new haircut / colour) and wadrobe haul can do a whole lot for your confidence. it worked for me.

It might make a difference to some people...i have seen reports and studies that show pretty people can get treated/served better then others...but it also depends on there additude to.. in the end does it really matter what someone else thinks...cuz let me tell you...they are just as worried as you are about thier own looks...

Unfortunately, being pretty does matter. BUT, what matters most in this world is confidence. You can be pretty but lack confidence and not get anywhere, or you can be not so pretty and have plenty of confidence and be very happy. I say, try to be pretty when you can, but be more confident about how pretty you can all the time...

Yes, it matter all the way, but I am talking pretty from the inside. Pretty from the outside is easy to obtain nowadays and is very superficial.

yes..but a good personality will make someone look much better. So a 6 looks wise with a great personality COULD be a 8....and this works in reverse.

But having no idea of ones personality, then the looks will be THE most important thing we (guys) look for.

Some people it does and some dont. Best thing to get in your head if someone loves you they wont care what you look like. If someone doesnt want anything to do with you because the way you look then you didnt need them in the first place. People should love someone for what is in the inside and not on the outside.

Unfortunately it does in terms of introduction, but in a serious relationship it is secondary to important issues.
Being pretty is a big deal in business unless you have something the others don't have. Many of the designers don't look pretty, but have what others want.

For better or for worse, it does to me. I won't date someone I wouldn't be proud to show off to my friends. Maybe it's shallow, but I need some degree of sexual attraction and fire in order to rightly call a relationship anything more than friends. That's not to say that I only date Johnny Depp, but I do need a little beauty in my life.

At first glance, yes. There is no denying this. We are "trained" to judge by appearances at first glance. However, for those who really care about a person or those who are sincere about getting to know a person, and for those who know better, appearances are just the very tip of a huge iceberg.
