I have questiosn about the story the bible tells when Jesus is being tested by the devil. However for now I want to focus on the following text that appears in the book of Mark.

"Then the devil led Jesus up to a high place and quickly showed him all the nations on earth. The devil said, "I will give all this power and glory to you. It has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. Just worship me, and you can have it all.

Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!' "

I have the following questions.
a) clearly according to the bible the devil owns all the nations of the earth, What does that mean?
b) according to the same text, the devil clearly states that the nations/earth was given to him. Why? what happened for the devil to get this?
c) Why did Jesus reply not refute that? i.e why did he not say you dont own earth?
d) If all the nations of the earth are the devils, Are we living in Hell?

a lot of ok answers so far, but nothing solid.

God loves us so much to send Jesus down to die for us, but on the other hand, one apple bite and the devil takes over the world.

Not sure i am convinced with the explanation that the devil is a liar about owning the earth, seems that this is a fact.

something is missing here, why was earth given up so easily? even if Jesus died to save it, that happened many thousands of years after it was created.

Man (Adam ) gave dominion to the devil when he sinned in the garden....Man was originally given authority over the earth...it was forfeited by sin...

Jesus came to restore that authority to man.
If you are living for Christ , you have been given authority over Satan.
Good question.

a) Satan doesn't really own the nations of the world because the bible says the Lord owns the whole world and everything in it. Satan is a liar and doesn't really have any control. He is called the god of this world in the bible.
b) I think God allows the devil to do a lot of harm to us and to this world for his perfect plan. He uses this evil being to fulfill his plans.
c) I think Jesus of course knew that Satan didn't own the earth and the bible already stated that "the earth is the Lord's and the fullness therof."

Satan (the Devil) is the ruler of earth. That is why there is so much evil and corruptness on earth. Right now, we are lucky to also have God's presence here, or things would be much, much worse. To be honest, I am not exactly sure why the earth was given to Satan - it may have happened at the time that he was cast out of Heaven. You should talk to your pastor to get more information.
P.S. No, we are not living in Hell... sometimes it just feels like it!

Satan is referred to as the Prince of this World. He has reign over all of the earth at this point in time. He has the ability to control all of it. (See Eph. 2:2).

Jesus did not refute the statement because it is true. Although God has power and control over all things, including satan, He allows satan to do as he pleases for the time being.

No, we are not living in Hell. Christians that have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit do not belong to satan and are able to resist his tempting. It would be much nicer if satan were not here to tempt us and be the root cause of the evil around us, but that will not happen until he is thrown into the lake of fire.

Hell is an actual place (within our planet Earth? This is our planet and our sin here. Who knows how many universes, planets, people creations that God has established so far). Ask your Pastor for the other answers, it would take too long to write them all down here and now. sorry.

I don't know where hell is. All part of satan's deception. Satan does not have the power to give to Jesus . God the Father is the one w/ the power and the glory.

I do not believe in a Christian hell. I do not believe Satan as a red devil with cloven hooves exists. I believe hell is being away from the God of your choosing. That place is cold and depressing. You make your own hell by choosing to do the wrong things in your life that hurts you or others.

Hmm, interesting question. I think that the devil was lying (which he is known to do). Jesus did not refute it because it would have been useless, since the devil was lying anyway.

Are life is real short on this earth. If we pass the test, where we are told the truth,in the New Testiment King James Bible,we will NOT go to hell, because Jesus Christ died for our sins.Jesus Christ said I knew your name before the fondation of the earth. That means He knew us before the big bang, and before ***hole was put here.
