It's really overrated, I'd just get a decent job and buy your own stuff. As soon as you start riding for people there are all kinds of obligations and stuff, it can really take the fun out of it. But if it comes down to it and you're good enough and ready to be sponsored, it's best to do so by first making connections and getting to know important people. Start small, hang out at the local shop and get to know the owner(s), if you cut the mustard they'll hook you up and word will spread from there. However, don't go out there trying to show off, attitude is as important as skill. Another technique to getting sponsored is to make and send out "sponsor me" videos and letter to potential sponsors, however most people I have known in the industry haven't liked receiving them from complete strangers out of the blue, they prefer to ask you for one, but if the video is good enough and you portray the right "image" and stuff, you may get a package in the mail.

now a days its way tooo hard to get sponsored. soo amny ams out there and rokkies. you really gotta have somethign going for you
