I'm sure you've heard this before, but the Founding Fathers weren't so much "Christians" (or more correctly, "Fundamentalist Christians") as Deists. And they believed that others should be able to pursue their religious beliefs.
And the Constitution doesn't overpower the word of God for individuals. You can believe whatever you want, and should do what you believe is right, both in your eyes, and the eyes of God.
But others should be given the same right, even if they understand the word of God differently than you do. And the constitution is an attempt to allow that.

The Christian men who wrote the constitution knew what they were doing when they decided not to make this country a theocracy. The horrors of the Inquisition were still fresh in their minds. It hadn't happened all that long ago. Separation of Church and State is a good thing. As a Christian I do not want to live in a land where the so called Christian leaders make all the decisions and I have no say on what is right or wrong.
There are people here who do not believe the bible is the word of God and they should not be forced to, or forced out. That does NOT sound Christian to me but it is exactly what would happen if power corrupted leaders decide they know how to interpret the bible better than anyone else. We are free to call the bible the word of God and live according to it in this Country and that is something we should all be thankful for instead of trying to run things.

Oh where to begin...?
America is not a christian nation. Some of the groups who founded the colonies belonged to fringe christian groups; but for the most part, the founding fathers were deist. The nation was founded on the principal of religious freedom...for EVERYONE...not just the christians.
The constitution is the law of the land, and was written as such. The bible is a book of mythology (in some cases, bastardized from other religions). The bible on the other hand is accepted by SOME as the word of god...because the bible tells you it is. Everyone who is a citizen of the US must obey the constitution, which gives them the right to CHOOSE to follow the bible.
Any christian who things that we need to put more of an emphasis on biblical, rather than secular education is not sensible, and frankly, by nature of the Bill of Rights is unpatriotic.
The bible was written by men as well bucky. Learn the facts concerning the authorship of the bible, as well as the church's use of lies and deception to remain in power. One of the church's earliest bishops advocated not only this, but the omission of fact in order to perpetuate the "god myth". When the only source claiming that the bible is the word of god, is the bible itself, it loses all credibility to a logical mind.
That said, since both are the word of man, its easy to see and understand why people adhere to the constitution, while only some follow the bible.
Besides, even Jesus believed in the separation of church and state: "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's".

Did god write the bible? No, men did. America may have been founded by mostly Christians but today we are a nation with many different religions.
Think about it for a seccond. You are trying to push your religious beliefs on other people. How would you as a Christian feel if Religion X that had the majority of the power decided that Book Z should be the law of the land and not the constitution. Book Z is that religions book on how to live a good life, and in that book you can do punch sombody in the testicles if they say the work "the"...........sounds crazy? thats why we have the constitution, it doesn't care what book Z says, it follows the basic morals that many religions have.

The Christin and non-Christian founders of this country specifically founded a secular nation in 1776. The religious settlers who came before them were settling British colonies, not the United States of American.
The Constitution IS th law of the land and that should never change!
And the Bible was written by mere men who claimed it was the word of their God.

Neither.
There is a passage of the new testament epistle of Romans that said 'we were delivered from the law.' This must be true, because in the real world, there's no original copy of this law. Also, God is not enforcing old testament law. This is even more true if Jesus died for our sins, and made atonement for them.
In another new testament saying, it says that people who don't have the law of God still by nature do what it says.
To try to "make" the bible the law of the land would violate new testament precept.
As to the constitution, what makes any one think that it is the law of the land? Acts of congress, judicial decisions, and executive orders by past presidents have voided much of the bill of rights.
Truth is verifiable in the present time. Now is the time to look for it. Own yourself.

While the Constitution is not necesarily a perfect document, it was an inspired document. This should be the basis for the government. There is no need to make the Americas a theocrazy....yes, I know that I spelled that wrong. But look at other theocracies in the world: Iran, being a prime example. What is their economy like? How about their personal liberties and freedoms? Do they get to worship God as they like if they disagree with that particular branch of Islam? No, no, and no. No, theocracies are not a healthy system of government, no matter how well-intentioned.

First of all there is no god. Secondly, the U.S. was in fact settled primarily by Christians. But not settled just for Christians. Which is why the Constitution is the law of the land and not the Bible.

The Bible would be the best thing, as it IS the Word of God. However, it isn't right to have a state religion, since we would be forcing people to obey the Bible, which would end up in Christians persecuting non-Christians, just like the old Catholic Church. In that case, we would end up disobeying the Bible. So, for this godless age, the constitution is the best thing for America as a nation. Naturally, the Bible is the best thing for individual persons.

Constitution.
The beginning of this country (which was peppered by Christians AND Deists, by the way) cannot speak to modern society. Even the Constitution is outdated in many ways.
I'll give you one reason why the Bible is not the law of the land: choice. I choose not to be a Christian, and if you insist on trying to make your beliefs the law of the land, I will fight against you for my American right for freedom of religion.
And I'm fairly certain the concept of freewill crops up in your Bible every now and then. Forcing your beliefs on other human beings will only cause resentment.
Please consider moving to a nation that already makes its laws through religion. Like, say, Iran!
