Hey. I raise german shepherds. Easy problem to solve. Also the most frustrating. German shepherds teeth when they are pups incredibly it isn't hard to stop. When they gnaw on you just correct them with a no and a firm voice if they bite place you finger on the side of their mouth and press the gum to their biting teeth they will bite themselves and learn from it. Now on the shoe problem go to petsmart, walmart, or petco and go to the dog area (in petco and petsmart go to the training/vitamins) they will have a spray in a bottle called no chew. Spray it on shoes, carpet, trash, wood, rocks, it doesn't matter. Your pup won't want it again. I use it with my german shepherds and they won't touch the bitter things. The spray is non-toxic and leaves no sticky residue so shoes won't be a problem. They are normally like bitter apple or just plain bitter. What ever you do though don't get it on your hands and then eat something or in general get something on your hand edible and make the mistake of licking it. It's really really gross and bitter. I learned from personal experience. Just a side warning there. But this really does work and I hope it works for you like it did me.

She's 7 weeks old....a baby.

At that age...she's gonna chew everything and anything.

You can go to the pet store and buy some bitter apple to spray on them....make sure you get the kind for furniture...not for skin.

But I really suggest just putting the shoes in a closet or something. She's too young to know any better yet...and as a baby, she will continue to *explore the world with her mouth*.

Just like human babies do.

Be especially cautious of any electrical cords that are within her reach....

Get a couple of Kong toys at the petstore. You can do a search for Kong recipes online. Then fill them and *freeze* them. Not only will the dog work on them longer...since they food inside is frozen..but it will help with puppy teething.

good luck, and enjoy your pup.

You have to actually put your shoes somewhere where she can't find them. Keep trying with the bones and toys, but if you don't nip this in the bud asap, you'll have a much bigger problem when she grows up. Try flavored rawhides or squeaky toys(mine love those!). She may rip them apart, but it's certainly better than shoes. Also, you need to make sure she is distracted, because a bored german shepherd is a destructive german shepherd. (Remember that, I have two full grown dogs and I live by that rule.)

make sure that she understand that taking away the shoes, and stuff is not a game. try to keep the shoes away from her, and where it is easier for her to get to a toy than your shoes.
there are also sprays and what not you can put on the shoes to make them taste bad.
It would be a bother for you, but maybe put your shoes in boxes that she can't open, or in plastic bags?
if she is really mouthy, it might be a game to her. let her know that you love her, but that it is not OK for her to do that. you need to stop it now while she is young, so that when she is older she doesn't keep it up.
you might also try training books, and getting involved in a dog training class. she might just be bored, and not know what else to do, and knows that chewing on shoes gets her attention.

There a quite a few different sprays you can spray on that taste really bad to stop her from chewing on things.Try looking in your local pet store for them or on line. Puppies love to chew it's what whey do.Get one of those Puppy Kong's and fill it with treats and Kong paste,my dogs love these in the peanut butter flavor.Put your shoes up and away.

My pup is part german shephard... he always chews on my shoes and it drives me insane! I have found that when he chews on anything, especially shoes which he knows upset me the most, it is simply because i am not spending enough time with him.
Once i began devoting a set amount of time with him everyday the chewing stopping.
Another suggestion, if you don't want it chewed on put in a closet, drawer and room where the door is shut.

Keep all shoes away from her. Also if she starts to pay to much attention to a shoe, for example she starts starrying at one or walking towards it, distract her with a noise or touch. A loud clap will certainly draw her attention . Make sure to do it EVERYTIME she begins to pay to much attention to the shoes. She'll learn that every time she gets even close to a shoe, she'll hear a loud clap which she probably wont like and eventually stop.

I hope this helps u.

Puppies will chew on anything especially if they are teething. I had the problem with my 1 yr old dachshund when he was a puppy. Try giving him a stuffed kong. I stuffed mine with some treats and then sealed it with some reduced fat natural peanut butter. It kept him busy. Also put your shoes in the closet away from him. Out of sight, out of mind.
