i am sick and tired of people saying that global warming is a myth. wow. that shows you really didn't pay attention at school or TV, if you're actually on earth. how much more proof do we need?!!! ever since industries and vehicles were invented, the temperature in the earth has risen like never before. statistics prove this. the ocean's levels are rising because of the melting ice in the poles. there is even too much carbon dioxide in the oceans that is harming the shells of sea animals. if you don't believe me, look it up yourself. i'm sick and tired of this. i'm sorry but its just that people prefer to remain ignorant than to take measures.

As a scientist, please have an open mind.........

Please consider that the jury is still out about climate change. We simply do not know.....

Please also consider that we know for certain that there is a political agenda involved..... A recent example is the firing of the Oregon State climatologist by the governor of that state for holding a different opinion based on science. The governor of course has a "political" opinion about global warming.....

Even if man was partially responsible, and if humans changed entirely, there would be only a slight difference of a degree or two in temperature change.

Top scientists have refuted man's affect on the climate such as Astrophysicist Nir Shariv who stated, "Solar activity can explain a large part of the 20th-century global warming. Particularly because of the evidence that has been accumulating over the past decade of the strong relationship that cosmic-rays have on our atmosphere."

"The sun's strong role indicates that greenhouse gases can't have much of an influence on the climate."

Even doubling the amount of CO2 by 2100, for example, "will not dramatically increase the global temperature."

Oregon state climatologist, George Taylor said that "the global warming seen in the past century is caused largely by natural events, including cyclical climate patterns and solar fluctuations linked with cosmic rays and changes in cloud cover." As mentioned, Mr Taylor was recently fired by the Oregon governor for his "scientific" views.

I don't think there is a debate about whether global warming is occurring, but the idea that it is man made is a myth. Remember, the UN that came out with a recent report about climate change is a political entity that has done many things to prove it is not a credible, un-biased source. A recent example is the oil for food scandal that diverted millions of dollars to UN members and others. Also, even if there was man made climate change, China (the world's second-largest greenhouse gas emitter) and India are not going to embrace fossil fuel consumption.

Additionally, many scientists disagree about climate change and 17,000 signed a petition against the Kyoto treaty. Unfortunately, the sales focussed media who know little about this, spin it to suit their own opinions. So, its highly debatable whether humans are influencing global warming. Another thing to consider is that every 11,500 years, the earth goes through a major extinction with a global warming and cooling phase (ice age.) Paleontologists are able to track this through soil samples. We may actually be headed into an ice age because we are coming to the tail end of the current cycle. The problem is that the media and politicians get focussed on a piece of the puzzle and try to simplify this issue. Don't be fooled. There is probably nothing humans can do. Even if we could, there is no way you can control China who is becoming a major world polluter. Humans will need to adapt to climate change. Where I live there are small changes in our weather pattern, but nothing major. A lot of the media is hype to sell newspapers. The only caution is that some past climate changes have been more radical, swinging wildly from hot to cold. Others have brought on instant and severe cold conditions. I know the area that I live used to be buried in hundreds on feet of ice, but temperatures are mild today... Humans will just need to wait and see what mother nature brings and adapt as necessary.

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

I'm gonna guess you're still in high school. Global warming is a myth. If the temperature has been steadily increasing for the last hundred years(since decent records havebeen kept), how do you explain that since mass post wwII industrialization 50 years ago, the pace has remained the same? How do you expain the end of the last ice age? If temps didn't increase on their own, how did it end 18 thousand or so years ago? Why has the earth seen so many ice ages if the temps aren't fluctuating on their own anyway? Warmer summers duiring a hundred year span in the middle ages actualy proved beneficial as the growing season was longer and yielded more crops. I could go on for hours, but what I will say is don't buy all the B.S. you teacher feeds you. The roots of the global warming myth lie in the political motivations of those who would limit capitalist growth. They use the environment to mask socialist dogma. We call em "watermelons". Green on the outside, red on the inside.

Global warming is a myth. You must be brainwashed by all the media reports of global warming, because as we all know, the media is NEVER wrong...I am still trying to fix my computer from the whole Y2K mess. How can you say that the temperature is rising like never before?? The weather pattern is cyclical and takes several years, perhaps hundreds of years to come full circle. How do you know that the world was not hotter 300 years ago than it is now??? Don't believe everything you hear on tv or read in the papers.

YOU ARE A MORON! http://drudgereport.com/flash8.htm

The house just canceled a meeting on your beloved global warming because of a prolonged winter storm.

If you idiots were around during the Ice age you would be decrying the extinction of the dinosaurs. I live in the Midwest, according to scientist we were covered at least once by a glacier.

Did my SUV cause the global warming that melted the glaciers?

You dopes will believe any damn doomsday prophecy that a democrat predicts! Mt. Pinatubo vented 18.14 million metric tons of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere in 1991.

That makes what man-kind does in a lifetime look like a thimble full.

This is a political agenda driven hoax!

The great Ronald Reagan said :
"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."

Teacher's and television? you mean the liberal media and liberal academia?

Of course global warming is not a myth, it's a theory.

While I certainly don't see anything wrong with limiting what humans put into environment, I think that you can find statistics to prove anything.

Besides, temperatures ARE rising like they have before. Let's not forget the various ice ages that Earth has had, and the Medieval Warm Period, when even place such as GREENLAND were colonized!

I don't think that I'm ignorant about 'global warming', call it whatever you want and relate it to whatever, but keep an open mind about things.

Right so anyone who questions global warming, did not pay attention to their teachers, or the television? This is great logic I most certainly will take information on TV concerning climate change as serious as possible, as television has brought us such classic gems, as COPS, and World Most Deadliest (insert job, disaster, animal, etc here) Furthermore, anyone with an IQ higher then that of a piece of melba toast, knows that school has very little to do with actual learning, and a lot more to do with parroting.

Climate Change is not a myth, the earths climate has always been in a continuous cycle of change.

Having said that so called Anthropogenic Global Warming most certainly is a hoax, it’s a theory concerning climate change and quite frankly a ridiculous one. All this talk about the amount of CO2 humans produce and how it’s having a significant impact on our atmosphere is just the most absurd, junk science, and shock politics BS, that has ever been forced upon the people of earth. The last time there was ever a propaganda campaign so successful would have to be in Nazi Germany. Furthermore the whole idea that reducing our CO2 emissions will help prevent climate change is just so far off the mark, it’s barely worth discussing at all. While we are indeed contributing CO2 to the atmosphere, a lot people fail to realize the planet emits way more CO2 naturally, then we do. If we look at the planets total yearly amount of CO2 emitted each year (Natural, and Human) the human contribution barely makes up half of a percent. So really even if we stopped burning all fossil fuels tomorrow we most likely would not see any difference whatsoever. Using that logic, about 90% of the entire argument for Anthropogenic Global Warming simply does not hold water.

The Kyoto protocol is yet another sick joke, I mean seriously what difference does it make, when China, and India (who will soon be polluting way more then the rest of us combined) will be pretty much completely exempt from it??? Not to mention any industries that would have to respect emissions standards in any developed nation would just move shop to countries who don’t jump on the Kyoto bandwagon…. So essentially nothing would change.

Concerning Al Gores’ smash hit comedy of 2006 “An Inconveinent truth, (Which apparently is becoming mandatory viewing material in some schools) well there are so many flawed “facts” in that film, that if anything it should be a wake up call for the planet to stop believing everything they see on TV, and to start questioning the education system.

Just a few so called “facts” from an inconvenient truth that are blatant lies

1)by looking at ice cores from Antarctica with the naked eye , we can see when the American Clean Air act was passed……sure buddy last time I checked the naked eye could not see microscopic molecules which would have to be analyzed to make such a wild claim.
2)Hurricane Katrina, gained more and more power over the Gulf of Mexico. Actually Katrina was downgraded to a category 3 after being in the Gulf, how soon we forget how the popular media was reporting how much worse the devastation would be had it not lost power.
3)Malaria has been documented at altitudes of 2500 metres and higher some 100 years ago, more lies. Also not a single one of the 30 so called new diseases Mr Gore mentions in his film, are directly tied to global warming.
4)According to the environmentalists in Igloolik, Nunavut. Polar bear populations are stabilizing, and in some regions it’s actually increasing.
5)The mountain pine beetle is not an “invasive exotic species” it’s actually a native to some parts of northern British Columbia, and has always been present. Most scientists agree that the epidemic was caused by poor forest management.

You see Anthropogenic Global Warming, is more of a political circus, then a serious issue, both sides of the argument have agendas that they are trying to push through, at the publics expense. It’s merely another form of social control, not unlike bird flu, mad cow, terrorism, or North Korea’s nuclear program. By generating more fear then actual truth in regards to an issue, we are easily controlled by the government, as well as the media. If anyone really cared about global warming, we would be seeing people in the media talking about the billion ton methane deposits (An area approximately the size of France and Germany combined) contained within frozen peat bogs in western Siberia, which are now melting at an alarming rate. Methane is for more dangerous a greenhouse gas then CO2 ever could be, and if these deposits are released into the atmosphere they will be a serious force to be reckoned with. Mind you when is the last time you saw CNN do a report on that? Exactly, it’s just not as interesting, and probably would not get as good ratings, when its mother nature doing what she has always done, its so much more interesting when its portrayed as a catastrophe man has brought upon himself.

Yes it is. The IPCC stated that the consensus (51%) of scientist are 90% sure that warming is man made.

Phrenology and Eugenics had a better consensus than that.

The Earth has been much hotter and much cooler many times in the past with carbon levels many more times higher than present.

You share the same altruistic feelings as people in the Inquisition did.

Face it, so-called "global warming" is a $5BILLION business in this country alone. Give me just $250,000.00 and I'll be a believer as well!

ok there is global warming.. NOT 1st just listen to me before you get all upset. Well the earth goes through certain stages which include the iceage and the temperature changing in weird ways, but its just the earth going through different stages. Ok so we think global warming i guess you can call it that but really its something we cannot control, actually we can but the pollution we create only affects it about 8%. So sure we can do things to save energy but really its the earth going through certain stages. Sorry if what i am telling you is not what you want to hear but really think about it the continents ares shifting everyday which gets us in different positions on the world which causes weather to change. And as we all know when the world started the continents were all connected and soon they began to seperate and they still are and that is all that is happening. And another thing you shouldnt believe everything you read or watch on tv atleast there is proof of the earth shifting.

You Rock! It is sad that some people are not aware or they don't care.

I live in British Columbia, Canada and today our Premier of the province stated we will reduce pollution my 33% by the year 2020. We have to start now. One of the stipulations is that government officers will have to drive cars that can be converted to gas/electricity in the near future.

California has stated they will reduce pollution by 23% in the same time period.

I get a warm feeling that some government are paying attention and doing something about.
