and I am afraid that he will get hurt trying to run it. You see I break the horses to ride. What should I do? Should I become a cop instead of a coast guard? My term if I sign up for the coast guard is 4 years ,and the age limit is 27 years old. I am 21yrs. old and currently enrolled in college for a social work major. I finish soon ,and I am afraid that I will get bored with the field of work that I have majored in. What should I do?

Go join the Cost Guard, you will find it rewarding. You will not get bored with it.

You should go for your masters in social work and finish what you have started, if you then decide to join the CG, you would probably be an officer. You would still be young enough for the CG (the age limit for officers is higher) and you would have time to make the proper arrangements for your families ranch.

Has you dad considered retirement??

I'd hate for you to be screwed over for the rest of your life but then again, it's always nice to think of those before yourself.

Sit down and talk with your father and what he plans to do with the ranch if you do leave. If he is going to hurt himself, it would be mighty kind of you to stay but in another sense, if you don't go now you might lose your chance.

go for it. if you really want to then your family will understand. do whatever you want. being a cop is all good but who knows maybe you will think the coast guard will be awsome and then you will become a cop.

Becoming a police officer would be a good way to go. They get paid decent and you will have a college degree which means you will be eligible for promotions. That way, you can still help your Dad.
