Talk to your doctor.
Lay off the meds.
30 minutes before bedtime, take some melatonin and read quietly. Then half hour later, lights out.
Melatonin is a naturally occurring chemical in our body produced to make us sleepy. It does not make you fuzzy headed or anything else. It just makes you sleepy...and therefore, more prone to fall asleep.
While you're discussing your sleep issues with your doctor, ask him about a good dose of melatonin. My son takes just 3mg before bedtime & it truly helps.

Anxiety usually does have a root cause and if you find it and can work through it then you could possibly limit the anxiety that you feel. Something else that will help, until you find out what is causing your anxiety, is getting exercise during the day. My psychologist insists, as part of my therapy, that I get at least 30 - 45 minutes of exercise everyday, and it makes a huge difference. I'm talking walking, or bike riding, not like hard core.

You sound like me but only I am still in school. I am doing my schooling online from home. I am up constantly and when I go to bed I am wide awake as well. I feel the exact same way. My suggestion (and it works for me) is lying in bed listening to soft relaxing music, it always gets me. Or fall asleep to a movie, they really get me. I know the TV one isn't the best but hey it works, and you'll be calm the next morning.

Trying taking a Tylenol PM. They're not addictive & may help. If it doesn't try writing in a journal right before you go to bed & get all your anxiety out on paper. Then put the journal away & mentally, put the anxiety away. I hope that helps. Not sleeping makes all your problems feel bigger than what they are.
