could be an infection...perhaps in the ear

Take advil, drink hot liquids and gargle with very warm saltwater. Get rest, you can use saline or saltwater to snort up the nose also or use an eyedropper, it will clear out any post nasal drainage that may be causing the sore throat. Take Vit. C and drink juices and hot tea, preferably green tea. Rest and you should feel better in 7-10 days from the start. If not it may become a secondary infection and you'll need to see a Dr. Good luck. Rest! I just went through this...also keep moisture in the room put a pot of water on the heat source if possible, in the bedroom.

You have lymph nodes on the side of your throat. They are a filtering system. You have probably got an infection. They are doing their job but you need to see a doc.

go see your doctor ASAP, it sounds like your tonsils (strep throat) it can be serious, get meds.
