Anyone have any ideas to what it could be? She is acting fine otherwise. She is going to the vet on Tuesday...just curious until then...thanks in advance!

I don't see the classic sign of ear mites (dirty brown ears), but a month ago I fostered a kitten that did have ear mites.
I did put a half of feline revolution on her a week ago. I have Ivermectin, maybe a drop in each ear could help?
I'm not sure about the mange. She is an indoor only cat. (Maybe the foster kitten was a carrier, but he never showed syptoms of it)
I did have crappy cat food the last few bags. But I recently switched to Pro Plan. She did start looking raggy around that time come to think of it.
Thanks!

I wonder if you have seen her scratching as well. Since you are familiar with ear mites and you have used Revolution (Kudos for treating for fleas) I would think you cat has an ear infection or an allergy possible to that food you were feeding. Usually when cats loss hair from stress, its on their abdomen and its because they lick. Good luck with your vet visit and make sure you tell your vet everything you've written here.

If the hair loss is around the collar I would safely say it is the collar. Not all flea collars are suitable for cats. I would use frontline or advocate for fleas. Advocate also does earmites, worms, heartworm etc. It is not very expensive. If it was ringworm yes you will need vet help. Ringworm happens more randomly and will lose patches of hair around the nose, mouth and patches on the body. Wash your cat if at all possible with animal shampoo and not medicated. A gentle shampoo. If you are really poor I would buy a packet of Johnsons baby wipes. They are safe on cats and kittens. (only Johnsons) ($5.) others have benzalconium chloride which is poisonous to cats. Wipe the cat on those areas each day and apply dermaid which you can get from the chemist. Dermaid is a very mild cortisone cream which will help to soothe and take the inflammation off the skin. About $10- a tube. Seriously if it is the flea collar this will help and if it is ringworm it will get worse and worse until you get treatment from the vet. Total cost $15- if you have that much money I give you a 85% chance it will help. Good luck I know this will help. (Don't tell anyone, it is a secret but I work in the vet industry and this is a really easy one for me)

Get a fungi bottle. I usually use some stuff called Fungisan (or close to that) It helps with hair lose and irritation. It works really good, i have a black cat who has a hair lose problem on his face. It doesnt hurt, burn or anything to the cat. 100% safe, you can find it at a pet store, I found it at petsmart.

My cat had the same problem. Do you notice that hes scratching those areas a lot? When I took him to the vet they said that he just had allergies and it was a reaction from it. They suggested I try to change his food, type of litter, and even differnt things that might be the cause of the alergic reaction.

gently take the ear between your thumb and finger and rub...do you hear a squishy slurpy kind of sound? it may be that there is too much moisture in her ear. my cats and dogs seem to get this alot. i use a ear cleaner my vet uses, then dry it with cotton balls or paper towels...i do this several times a week til there is silence in the ear canal. the fluid in the ear drives them crazy wanting to itch it and they will scratch themselves bloody all around the ear and back of neck.

It could be (I think) a form of mange--or it could be from eating really cheap cat food. That has mostly fillers in it, not that nutricious for the cat. Please, when you take her to the vet, let him/her know the diet the cat is eating currently, etc. I wish you and your cat the best. Take care.
