First, I would rephrase the question to... "Should taxpayers be given tax breaks for making environmentally sound decisions?"

My opinion is, yes. Buying Hybrid vehicle merits a tax break because I am consuming less energy... a much desired commodity.

Solar panels, insulation, energy efficient windows... we are given tax breaks (aka tax credits) for using these items because they save our society money.

I think the government should go a step further: tax credits fir recycling, credits for using reusable bags, credits for water conservation.

no...if that happened, i'd expect tax breaks for helping people, and helping kids, and everything else.
