You really should visit a doctor. Sudden and constant pain like that, especially in your lower back, could be the sign of any number of ailments. You may have injured it...or you could have something more serious. At the very least, the doctor can prescribe a stronger pain killer and/or physical therapy. Good luck - AND GO TO THE DOCTOR SOON.

I agree with some of the other comments. Go to your Doctor so they can prescribe something for you. They will check you out and also let you know if it is more serious (such as disk problems, etc). Then they will prescribe a couple of drugs. An anti-inflammatory (any NSAID - nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - Naproxen for example) and a pain killer (like Vicodin). If you are having spasms as well they will throw a muscle relaxant out there too (like Flexeril).
The whole idea is to stop you from tensing up your back (with the pain killers) so the anti-inflammatory has a chance to work. If you take advil and your back is still all tense all day it doesn't get a chance to work.
You shouldn't drive while taking this mixture though as they make you pretty groggy. If you have to work (like most of us) you can take the anti-inflamatory and then use a heat wrap.
My doctor also suggested I get some of those heat wraps (like ThermaCare) when I can't be sitting on the heating pad at home.

You can also try some exercises to strengthen your back so it hurts less. You'd be surprised but exercising your stomach also helps as it balances out the back and provides support for your spine.

Most back pain is temporary and can be treated without any expensive medication or surgery. Applying a heating pad , warm compress or an icepack to the affected area will help . Exercises
like walking , swimming or massaging and back belts provide relief . Avoid stretching ,carrying heavy loads or standing with a bent back while performing your daily activities . More details and

Go to your Doctor or the nearest ER. What you ar taking is an NSAID (Anti-Inflammatory). ANd the tylenol only works on low level pain, and it ISN'T and NSAID. You need to be on a stronger pain medication like vicodin or tylenol #3 short term, 5-10 days to see if it helps the pain. If you need further help e-mail me at supermankangaroo@yahoo.com and if you could describe the pain i could help better!

I had the same problem and went to the ER last night and they gave me a shot of Toradol(non-narcotic but is as strong as morphine) and that helped instantly. But they also sent me home with an RX for Percocet and Valium(for muscle spasms) and the Percocet is wonderful. I have tried OTC products like Tylenol, Motrin and Aleve and it did nothing. See your Dr. or go to the ER and you can get the proper meds for your pain. Hope that helps you :O)

Girl..............i am disabled from severe scoliosis, i had 2 major back surgeries in 2005 and finally had my lumber (lower back) fused. What you need to do is go to a good spine doctor and get x-rays or an MRI and find out what the PROBLEM is before it gets worse.............the longer you wait the worse it will get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
